Richard Youngs is a British musician of prolific and diverse output, based in Glasgow since the early 1990s, whose catalogue formally begins with Advent in 1990 and now runs to well over a hundred titles, solo and collaborative. He follows no single style: minimalist song cycles, long drones, folk-inflected ballads, electronic experiments and pieces built on repetition and endurance all sit side by side. He plays many instruments, most often the guitar, but has been known to use shakuhachi, accordion, theremin, dulcimer, a home-made synthesizer and even the sound of a motorway bridge.
