Richard Harding has contributed to many Whi Music releases, as ferocious Chapman Stick player in Bloodcog and Malchamech, and as a classical guitarist in the duo Graculus. Here he’s turning his compositional and instrumental skills to another of his loves, ambient music. ‘Pale Blue’ is a sixty-three minute drone ambient piece using guitars and keyboards to gently steer the listener almost imperceptibly through the entire chromatic scale, so although it floats over your alpha waves, it’s not a static thing, and by the end you will have heard all twelve tones of the Western tempered scale.

Richard Harding is a Liverpool-based composer and guitarist, with a PhD in composition from Liverpool Hope University, focussing on the dynamics of the composer/performer/listener relationship in the creation of music. His creative and performance work embraces contemporary classical composition, ambient minimalism and free improvisation.
