"'Spira' is the title of the debut album by Daniela Pes, born in Gallura in 1992, a singer-songwriter, musician and composer of electronic music with a jazz background behind her, a factor that has allowed her to grow artistically in absolute freedom. An emancipation that, in the seven tracks that make up this excellent debut work, is revealed behind every little detail and oversees all the ideas that come together along the atypical path. Beginning with the use of the voice, which always declares itself to be a true instrument among instruments; a definition that is confirmed in the work carried out by the Sardinian artist, unusual, magnetic, deep, even edgy when necessary.

This peculiar vocality is combined with texts composed by Pes herself in a non-existent language, made up of ancient Gallura lemmas, shreds of Italian words and others that are completely invented, harmoniously brought together in an organism freed from the desire to communicate an actual thought, but with the sole objective of forming a sound that serves as a hymn, almost religious, impregnable with reason and accessible only with the imagination, with emotion. Pes's complex work moves with great fluidity between refined and foggy electronics, with rhythms that are sometimes more sustained ("Illa Sera" and "Laira"), recalling the dilated textures of kosmische musik ("Ora") or the drone music and experimental avant-garde of early Battiato ("Ca Mira"); Stylistic situations that come together in the semi-suite "A te sola", where all the facets of Daniela's sinuous creativity are touched upon in the more than ten minutes of duration, here mottled with cultured acoustic and ethnic fragrances that tend to further expand the inventive scenario and complete the level of intensity of the entire work.
