Old Tales Retold
Austere and uncanny, Old Tales Retold finds Yan Jun and Taku Unami delving into narrative fragmentation and acoustic twilight, constructing an album that feels less like a recounting and more like listening in on the pulse of folklore as it dissolves. Sonic atmosphere fractures as much as it reveals, leaving the listener suspended between recollection and anticipation.
Early Works
Bill Fontana investigates the physics of perception itself. Side A: tape collages where sound becomes both material and force. Side B: Wave Spiral for 5 Rin Gongs - a sidelong, 21-minute centerpiece where pure sine waves create interference patterns, frequency made sculptural. Sound spiraling through space, dissolving boundaries between observer and phenomenon.
Morgen II
Morgen II by Pier van Dijk and Robert Joseph revives the radical Dutch sound poetry of the 1980s. This tape, released by Counter Culture Chronicles, documents a sprawling word-piece where language fractures, collides, and reforms, blurring the divide between voice and noise, gesture and rhythm, memory and rupture.
