Morgen II by Pier van Dijk and Robert Joseph revives the radical Dutch sound poetry of the 1980s. This tape, released by Counter Culture Chronicles, documents a sprawling word-piece where language fractures, collides, and reforms, blurring the divide between voice and noise, gesture and rhythm, memory and rupture.

Counter Culture Chronicles present Morgen II, a rare archival release from Dutch sound poets Pier van Dijk and Robert Joseph. Originally conceived in the restless cultural landscape of the 1980s, Morgen II is a long-form word performance that resists conventional structures of both poetry and music. Here, language becomes an instrument, stripped of semantic function and reassembled as raw sound—shards of syllables, cascades of repetition, and bursts of fractured rhythm. Van Dijk and Joseph belonged to a generation of European experimenters who sought to destabilize text itself, staging performances where words dissolved under pressure into noise, breath, and cadence. What remains is an aural canvas in constant flux, vivid and unsettling, but also deeply committed to rethinking the role of the voice as an expressive site.

More than a historical curiosity, Morgen II speaks to our current moment, where the instability of meaning and the tension between communication and collapse feel strikingly present. This release is not background listening but an invitation to confront language as a living, volatile material.
