Audrey Chen
Audrey Chen is an American vocalist, cellist and improviser, born in 1976 outside Chicago and now based in Berlin. Classically trained on cello and voice, with a focus on early and new music, she turned in 2003 to a personal language of improvisation. Her work uses extreme and extended vocal techniques, cello and analog electronics, and one of her long-running projects is a duo with the English vocalist Phil Minton. Audrey Chen took up the cello at eight and singing at eleven. In her solo sets she combines voice with analog synthesizers, among them the Ciat-Lonbarde Fourses.
