Domenico Guaccero

Domenico Guaccero, Italian composer and music theorist, and surely one of the most representative musicians of the New Music movement of the 1960s and 1970s. He was active in difficult times for Italy’s musical scene and shined as an example of coherence in sustaining his ideas. Many of today composers are indebted to his experimentation and teaching. His commitment to the renewal of musical language is apparent in many ways and his extraordinary interest in experimentation led him to undertake numerous initiatives and to advocate bold innovations with regard to the institutional channels of the diffusion of music in Italy.

Long deleted, few copies available for this 1977 album with Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza members and associates "This is another fine date in Mario Schiano's deeply slung bag of atonal tricks. This date, an improv suite with various attachments, features our fearless Italian leader coming to arms with a quartet whose members carry with them not only most of the instruments in the orchestra, but an arsenal of noisemakers and percussion instruments and an endless round of techniques …
Da Cantare - Vocal Works 1951-1983
LAST FEW COPIES, long sold out: this important double CD box edition is the ultimate collection of the vocal compositions by one of the leading figures of Italian contemporary and aleatory music. The first piece -- 'Rot' -- is the complete version of the piece originally written in 1973, as the vocal parts have been added in July 2004 for its 2nd performance ever, held in Rome during the celebration of the 'Guaccero'year'. It is therefore different from the piece presented on the LP, which is pu…
