Gonçalo Almeida

Gonçalo Almeida is a Portuguese double bassist and composer, born in Lisbon in 1978 and based in Rotterdam. His projects move between modern jazz, free jazz, jazzcore and free improvisation, and he leads or co-leads several groups while working with improvisers, dancers and visual artists. Gonçalo Almeida founded Hydra Ensemble, Lama Trio, Albatre and The Attic, the trio with Rodrigo Amado and Onno Govaert that recorded La Grande Crue with Eve Risser for NoBusiness in 2024. He also plays in Spinifex, The Selva and the Luis Vicente Trio.
