Lydia Kavina
Lydia Kavina was born in Moscow in 1967 and is a relative of the theremin's inventor, Léon Theremin. She began studying the instrument at nine under his direction and gave her first theremin concert five years later. She holds a composition degree from the Moscow Conservatory and is based in Oxfordshire. She has played on film soundtracks including Howard Shore's music for Ed Wood and eXistenZ, and in Olga Neuwirth's opera Bählamms Fest. Her students include Carolina Eyck and Barbara Buchholz. Mode released Music from the Ether and Spellbound!.
