Magnus Granberg

Magnus Granberg is a Swedish composer and performer, born in Umeå in 1974 and based in Stockholm. He trained as a saxophonist and improviser at the University of Gothenburg and in New York, and he taught himself composition. His long, quiet chamber pieces sit between written music and improvisation, and they often take older music as their raw material. Most of his work has been recorded for the British label Another Timbre. Granberg founded the ensemble Skogen in 2005 to bring improvised and composed methods together.
