Ruins
Ruins is a Japanese duo formed in Tokyo in 1985 by drummer and vocalist Tatsuya Yoshida, always built around drums and bass. The group plays complex pieces that join progressive rock, noise rock and free improvisation, with vocals sung in an invented language that owes much to the French band Magma. Yoshida worked with a series of bassists, among them Kazuyoshi Kimoto, Ryuichi Masuda and Hisashi Sasaki, who stayed until 2004. Albums include Stonehenge (1990), Burning Stone (1992) on Shimmy Disc, Hyderomastgroningem (1995) on Tzadik and Tzomborgha (2002).
