SPK

SPK, formed in 1978 in Sydney, Australia, was a 1980s and early 1990s industrial music and noise music act. The group was formed when Revell (aka Operator) met up with Neil Hill (aka Ne/H/il). They were both working at a psychiatric hospital when they became inspired by the manifesto of the German radical Marxist group known as the Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv (SPK). William S. Burroughs the American writer was a huge fan and supporter of SPK; the picture right shows the band with Burroughs at his home in Lawrence, Kansas in 1982. From left to right: Graeme Revell, Karel vanBergan, William S. Burroughs (uncle Bill), Dominik Guerin, and James Pinker

Leichenschrei
Re-edition of the SPK masterpiece first out in 1982; close to 40 years are gone, but the energy of 'Leichenschrei' is still very high! An absolute highlight in industrial culture and music. Leichenschrei was the second album by the Australian industrial group SPK (Sozialistisches Patienten Kollektiv). Their debut album, Information Overload Unit, explores a brutal industrial noise sound and places Leichenschrei as the stepping stone towards the group's synth based and rhythmical material that wa…
Zamia Lehmanni (Songs Of Byzantine Flowers)
**CD version in 6-panel digipack** "Originally released by Side Effects in 1986, Zamia Lehmanni was the third (and final) core SPK album and was Graeme Revell’s first truly solo project. He was in a period of transition, somewhere between the industrial noise of the early years and his later award-winning soundtrack work. On the day before this was first released, this style of music, now ubiquitous (especially in soundtracks), did not exist. After Information Overload Unit cleared a space for su…
Auto-Da-Fé
* Second press with grey cover. Includes a postcard with the tracklist printed on it * "The first side of Auto-Da-Fé consists of singles dating back to before the release of Information Overload Unit, while the second side is post-Leichenschrei, but pre-Machine Age Voodoo material. With early material vacillating between noisy textures and punk trappings, and the later tracks showing hints of their synth-pop direction, there's a definite dichotomy here, but both halves excel greatly in what they…
