Xiu Xiu
Xiu Xiu is an American experimental rock group formed in San Jose, California, in 2002 by singer and songwriter Jamie Stewart after the end of his earlier band Ten in the Swear Jar. Stewart is the only constant member. The group mixes noise, synth pop, post-punk and art song with confessional lyrics, and its early records used harmonium, mandolin, bells and gongs over programmed drums. The name comes from the Chinese film Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl. Fabulous Muscles (2004) is often described as the most accessible Xiu Xiu record.
