Tachibana
*2021 repress. 2023 stock* The desire to discover and delve into new and unexplored areas of music has turned attention on the Japanese jazz scene of the 1970s, often regarded as its gilded age. The recent ground-breaking sell-out BBE compilation J Jazz: Deep Modern Jazz from Japan 1969-1984 threw much needed light on this fascinating era and presented a range of artists and music that surprised and delighted all who heard it. A key track on the compilation was one of the rarest and least known:…

Sahib Shihab And The Danish Radio Jazz Group
Sahib Shihab (Edmund Gregory) played with many of jazz’s finest musicians. Shortly after he became one of the first jazz players to change their names due to an Islamic conversion, he joined Thelonious Monk for his Blue Note sessions. He also played with Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Pettiforn and Quincy Jones. A unique musician, he was at home in every musical style, from the experimentalism of Thelonious Monk to the more direct hard bop of Art Blakey. Sahib Shihab’s distinctive sound was …
Six Operators
Mindblowing **Edition of 250** Unreleased before, this is their proper second effort, re-recorded in 2017. Ambienti Coassiali's Six Operators was recorded with a Yamaha DX7 and a two-track Revox A77 tape machine, a further step into the world of meditative & ethereal FM synthesis by this obscure Milanese project run by Silvio Linardi and active during the late '80s. More details to follow.
Dissections
Here the work of the last 4 years by Capricorni Pneumatici. A double CD  with 8 medium/long sound dissections recorded in Sweden, UK and Southern Italy. Dissection 1 is a frizzling track based on Tibetan bowl, maracas and music machine. Dissection 2 is a very long suite introducing low, calm waves of a forgotten sea that you should listen in a dark room. Dissection 3 is shorter with the addition of percussive echoed noises. Dissection 4 has a harsher sounds produced by synth, el guitar, tubular …
Spare Rooms
**Edition of 250** Following the release of Ambienti Coassiali’s Vol. 1 - Room 1-6 in 1988, the years and decades passed without another sound. For the few aware of them, it would have logically seemed that the project had been swallowed by the shadows of time. Then, in late 2017, came Spare Rooms, an incredible LP with clear conceptual links to the project’s debut - their first effort to emerge in 29 years. Issued by Artisti Del 900, the relaunch of legendary Italian imprint ADN, the album is n…
False Memory Syndrome
"In 1980 the Italian musicians Piero Chianura (bass guitar, samples, synthesizers) and Luciano Margorani (electric guitar, devices) founded LA 1919 in Milan, Italy. False Memory Syndrome is their sixth album on which guest drummer Federico Zenoni can be heard on all tracks. Una Giornata Particolare - Ore 18 contains the screams of Enrico Salvi. It's not easy to describe the musical style of LA 1919; it's undoubtedly progressive, but without the rock references, nor is it freestyle jazz, backgrou…
Kiteet
The second in a series of posthumous Mika Vainio releases on Säkhö, celebrating the work of a true, electronic music visionary. The tracks on Kiteet, released under Vainio’s Ø alias, were initially written for the 1997 Snow-Crash exhibition in Milan but never used. Five of the eight tracks found their way onto later albums, three have never been released anywhere. As you would expect from an artist with Vainio’s immense stature and pioneering legacy, Kiteet is a mesmerising listen, built from so…
Oleva (2LP)
Originally released back in 2008, now repressed! Mika Vainio (1963-2017) was best known as half of Finnish cutting edge experimental electronica duo Pan_sonic. Ø is Vainio’s original solo pseudonym dedicated to his native label Sähkö Recordigs since 1993. Where Pan_sonic uses pure, industrial and sometimes harsh sound elements, Ø reveals Mika Vainio’s deeper, passionate and sometimes even romantic side.
The Mystic Revelation of Teppo Repo
The music of TMROTR is channeling the spirit of the Finnish forests and nature, combining shepherd music with hypnotic and subtle elements of spiritual jazz and nyabinghi rhythms. Their instrumentation includes various self-built and custom-made instruments such as a log percussion setup and many different kinds of flutes.
3 Raw Takes
This EP features 3 unreleased early takes from Martin Revs Les Nymphes -album from 2008. Tracks are early 2006 stripped down versions. Sähkö dig out previously unreleased versions of Martin Rev’s ‘Les Nymphes’ cuts from cold storage, spanning singular takes on rock ’n roll techno, dark drone ambience and a slow rave peach by the Suicide legend. We almost mistook the swaggering nine minutes of ’Sophie Eagle (Early Version)’ for a Theo Parrish number, but nah, it’s definitely Martin Rev getting dow…
City of Women II
Jimi Tenor and a group of friends visited twice at Edward Vesala’s unique home (Sound and Fury Studio) in Korkeakoski in southwest Finland. It was winter 1998. Matti Knaapi and Jimi Tenor have been designing and building instruments since the early '80s. They brought vanful of apparatus to Sound and Fury which already had a large collection of Vesala’s exotic and self built instruments. During the two rather extreme sessions 13 songs got finished. The first part was released in year 2000. Sadly …
Archive Series (5LP Box)
* Edition of 300 numbered copies * The Sam Rivers Archive Series looks to be a beautiful physical manifestation of the love and respect that NoBusiness Record's Danas Mikailionis has for NYC loft era free jazz (we're working with PDFs and digital files but I, for one, have my copy on pre-order!). Over the years, NoBusiness has been dedicated to unearthing and releasing long-unheard music from a number of musicians (like Peter Kuhn, Billy Bang, Jameel Moondoc, among others) and quite notably, in …
Erich Kleinschuster 6tet – Feat. Carmell Jones, Slide Hampton & Art Farmer – ORF / 1968-71
Erich Kleinschuster’s projects and initiatives played a vital role in establishing a spiritual home for jazz in Vienna. The founding of his sextet in 1966 and, in 1968, a jazz department at the Vienna Conservatory, were catalysts for a scene that attracted international stars as well as nurturing the careers of home-grown virtuosos. Many jazz exiles, admired in Europe as they never were in the United States, settled for long periods, carving out new lives on the continent. The recordings in this…
Formation: Live '61
Recorded live in London before a studio audience on the 24th August 1961. Previously unissued. By the time this EP is released 60 years will have elapsed since the recordings contained within it were made, and nearly 50 years since the untimely death of pioneering West Indian free jazz altoist Joe Harriott on the 2nd January 1973, aged 42. Only in the very recent past has Harriott started to receive anything approaching the accolades he undoubtedly deserved during his lifetime. For those new to …

Wenn Der Sujdwind Weht
Wenn Der Südwind Weht ("When The South Wind Is Blowing") is the seventh solo album by Hans-Joachim Roedelius, originally released on Sky Records in 1981 (also known under the title Selbstportrait IV). "Where on earth does Roedelius find such a beautiful array of notes?" wonders Asmus Tietchens in his sleeve notes for this reissue. Not an unreasonable question. Roedelius, a pioneer of ambient music, Krautrock and, arguably, synthesizer pop, member of such seminal bands as Cluster and Harmonia, …
