Morgendämmerung
This vinyl only release by Ora features two hauntingly atmospheric tracks from their rare "New Movements In G" release (150 copies) originally released on Darren Tate's own Gnome Records label in 1998, and were not included on the two Ora retrospective CD compilations "Final" and "After The Rainfall" (both on Colin Potter's own ICR label). For these recordings Ora were: Darren Tate, Colin Potter, Lol Coxhill, Daisuke Suzuki on the A-Side 'The Sun Sheds A Golden Tear', and Darren Tate & Colin Pot…
Edge Of Nothing
**Edition of 400** Edge Of Nothing was first released in a cassette edition of 5 (!) copies on David Jackman’s Aeroplane imprint, and then included on the legendary “The Elephant Table Album” DLP in 1983 (feat. Coil, Nurse With Wound, SPK, Lustmord etc). Both tracks presented here are the January 2003 mixes of the original material, which was derived from variously stimulating a cymbal with bows, knuckles, loops etc. An extremely dense piece of experimental noise where (allegedly) the B side is …
Verhalte Dich ruhig
Those readers familiar with the world of experimental music will know the name David Jackman, primarily from his work under the name Organum. As Organum, Jackman has created some of the finest, most haunting drone recordings of the last decade. This CD is a reissue of a 1996 cassette-only release that appeared in an edition of only 61 copies. Perhaps slightly similar to the sampling work of John Wall, here Jackman has taken found recordings of orchestras, and overlaid them to create two eerie co…
Flak
**Edition of 400** 'Flak' is an excellent 10" release offering two diverse pieces. Side A is a heavy, densely layered drone piece comprised of harsh, grating sounds all over the sound field, but sliding from start to finish with remarkable constancy. It's a truly beautiful noise, rather like some of David Jackman's earlier work as Organum. Side B is a field recording, untreated, unfiltered, recorded outdoors, with a great hiss that is very much present in the mix. This second track seems to comm…
Laus
Though the single is two sided, both appear to be the same track. Black vinyl in a foldover sleeve, depicting a depressing set of low buildings behind a fence. The image also appears on the disc labels. Includes the usual insert for upcoming Die Stadt products.
Machine Guns
A 7" that lives up to its title by the enigmatic man from Organum. Just the sound of machine guns. Not very much manipulation. The two tracks were produced using original archive recordings of the Imperial War Museum in London as a sound source. Second edition of 200 copies on black vinyl
Terrain
**Edition of 400 copies** Two tracks from early cassette releases. Side A is an alternative version of "Terrain" by Jackman and Sanderson, originally released on the "0 Degrees North" cassette (Aeroplane 1982). With Jackman overdubbing low guttural growls on a steel strung cello and Sanderson programming coffee-percolation on a drum machine, "Terrain" is a lo-fi production that finds its companions in the work of Throbbing Gristle, Hunting Lodge, and the Broken Flag camp of noise. Side B is a so…

Intoutof
Rare original copy of this early ultra limited edition in bookstyle packaging.  All material present generated between 1985 and 1987. Intoutof is a series of finely woven drone environments incorporating location recordings by Ward Phillips. The section titles imply some sort of alchemic process, with the grinding sounds of "Initiation" evolving into the brighter tones and birdsong of "Ascent," before the hard discords of "Purgatory No 1 & 2."

cruise
Penultimate and incredible controversial album - marking a revolutionary new approach in style, includes 16-page booklet featuring extensive lyrics and information Produced by William Bennett, except 'public' by Steve Albini Mastered by Denis Blackham; definitely one of Whitehouse's best albums. As far as complaints about it being too short: well, many of the Whitehouse albums that the folks on this list state as being good starting points or favorites ("Dedicated To Peter Kurten", "Bu…

A portrait of Lol Coxhill
awesome and long out of print book on Lol Coxhill by Jeff Nuttall, 108 pages "There are very few versatile artists that hold the importance Lol Coxhill has in European improvised music. His highly personal style on soprano and tenor saxophone (fluent, lyrical yet capable of shrieking outbursts), his ability to perform with everyone and in every style, from jazz standards to the weirdest electro-acoustic improv, backed by his enduring sense of humor, all draw the figure of a maverick musician." -…
Derek Bailey and the story of free improvisation
443 pages of Derek Bailey viewed partly through the eyes of Ben Watson but also verbatim through detailed interviews with Bailey, Tony Oxley and Gavin Bryars and shorter contributions from other musicians such as Steve Lacy and Eugene Chadbourne. There's a great amount that's extremely enjoyable, particularly taking in the early days in Sheffield, the explorations of Joseph Holbrooke, interludes in the Channel Islands, and Bailey talking about close friends, musicians or non-musicians.Over 100 …
