Semèia Kài Tèrata
"The Septuagint is the name in which the first Greek translation of the Old Testament is identified, datable to the 2nd century A.D. According to Aristea's letter to Philocrates, in which the genesis of this version is mentioned, 72 sages from Alexandria commissioned by Ptolemy II were responsible for the translation. Within the text, the term "prodigy" (τέρας, tearas) is never found alone but forms an inseparable binomial with "sign" (σημεῖον, semèion), thus forming the expression σημεῖα καὶ τέ…

Affective Room Tones
** Glass mastered CD. 6-panel digisleeve (coated 350gms cardboard). Matte finish. Text by Xavier Veilhan. Designed by Mote Studio ** “When Xavier Veilhan kindly invited me to consider which artists to involve in his amazing Studio Venezia project, one of the first names I had penciled in was Nicola Di Croce. Between the many sound artists that I know and admire, Nicola has the unique quality of always provoking an original dialogue between his theoretical reflections and his practice as a…
Dust Bunnies
** Glass mastered CD. 6-panel digisleeve (coated 350gms cardboard). Matte finish. Designed by Mote Studio. Photography by Fabio Perletta ** Dust Bunnies is Giovanni Di Domenico's first solo release for 901 Editions. Recorded in Oude Kerk Charlois with the majestic 1784's Hess pipe organ and in Klangendum / Worm studio in Rotterdam, the album beautifully merges acoustic and synthetic sounds. As pressurized air flows through the pipes, the music reminds us of desertic wind, evoking introspective p…
Un Fiocco di Neve
“Un Fiocco Di Neve” (Italian word for snowflake) is one of the possible crystallisations of an ongoing project called Nucleazione (Nucleation), started in 2017 and consisting of the accumulation of over 200 sound files and silences pulled together and randomly overlapped with no control. The five compositions of this album originate from a series of auto-generative methods, which I found brought me to new listening experiences in the process of composing. I trace my steps back to a decentered, l…

Motors, sound objects, automated gestures, mixed materials as opposed to synthesizer-ge…
Frequencies
Edition of 200. This is the last release in the series of Nicolas Bernier’s worldwide acclaimed and Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica awarded project “frequencies”. The piece frequencies (a / archives) is a composition based on sounds from the scientific archives of Rennes 1 University (France). This impressive collection of antique scientific apparatus includes one of the few remaining "Grand Diapason" built by Rudolph Koenig circa 1880. The two gigantic forks of the Grand diapason can gen…
Undefined
Undefined is the first collaboration between artists Richard Chartier and Yann Novak. For this piece the artists chose to collaborate in a way that was less about concept and more about the act of listening. The piece began with Chartier creating an unfinished work and sending it to Novak with no explanation, just the instructions to add to it, subtract from it, or a combination in order to finish the piece. Novak was then to send the recording back to Chartier for a simple approval or rejection…
Blue.Hour
Yann Novak Blue.Hour explores the high contrast colors created in the landscape during “l’heure bleue,” the period of twilight each evening when there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness. Directly following the ‘Golden Hour,’ know for its diffused yet powerful light, the Blue Hour retains the diffusion but lacks the strong light source giving this period of the day an especially melancholic and meditative atmosphere. Blue.Hour is presented here in stereo with some compositional elemen…
