The first release from Dieter Moebius and Karl Renziehausen, a painter. The original LP was released on Pinpoint Records in 1990. Reissue with elaborate miniature paper sleeve of the original LP. Digitally remastered version, limited to 1,000 copies
Widely credited as one of the greatest artistic achievements of the 20th century, this rarely performed work launched its director Robert Wilson and composer Philip Glass to international success when it was first produced in Avignon, France in 1976, with subsequent performances in Europe and in New York at the Metropolitan Opera. It is still recognized as one of their greatest masterpieces. Now, nearly four decades after it was first performed and twenty years since its last production, Einstei…
Reflex is the fifth solo album by Switzerland's Reto Mder (Ural Umbo, Sum of R, Pendulum Nisum) as RM74. A creepy, paranoid record of sinister melody and complex structure. Electronics, organ, synthesizer, guitars and other instrumentation drifts in and out of bizarre atmospherics. The tracks gain emotional resonance as they move among vexing swells of dense, rotting psychedelia. Presented in a heavy matte sleeve printed with dark metallic ink. Includes fold out insert. Photograph by Phill…

" Plastic Box is a a 'metal box' fascinating companion, plotting the evolution and subsequent degradation of the experimental impulse that saw its apex in 1979. Tracks like “Albatross” have always been passed off as autobiographical by Pistols-watchers who believed that Lydon could only ever refer to Lydon, but the power of Metal Box lies in Lydon’s ability to forget: himself, his past, and so to move around the landscape like a ghost, to be free of his own history in order to fully invest…
"Hold on gnaw...last but not least..... the NO STATE NO SOUND comp lp. Dont know what led up to it...think I vaguely remember getting "dared" by Nurse Khrust to put out a record of silence by the crew, not sure, but maybe told Haunted Square D about it....but anyhow.....flashblack to an average but killer brewsday in the late summer, got the crew shooting the gip, no biggy, and Square D rolls up with his "Body Morph" one minute silent track....takes a sec to remember but all right...lets do this…
Jean-Claude Jones (electro acoustic bass, live electronics). This solo bass album is a distillation of my language, the articulation of my voice on my instrument. It is free improvised music, focused on energy and the moment. This project incorporates electro-acoustic sounds and noises, groovy rhythmical games and sporadic forays into melody.
Major archival unearthing that makes available for the first time the bulk of the 'official' releases - plus a ton of unreleased material - from the mythic Butte County Free Music Society, a collective of musical oddballs, 'noise' musicians, art pranksters, record collectors and rock/roll fans who modeled themselves on the Los Angeles Free Music Society in order to create an umbrella organization that would shelter 'out' musicians during times of musical drought, this one taking place in the ear…
A certified masterpiece! Spread over the 10 LPs, you get the finest selection of rarities and previously-unreleased tracks. Not only that, the package itself is nothing short of excellent, with its newly-designed handmade box, and individual handmade cove…
It seems as Campbell Kneale (within his Love Will Destroy The World project) aims to discover any darkest and most dangerous corners of the modern experimental music. As an experienced and dedicated hunter, he doesn't walk the empty tracks, rather he's interested much more in rich bushes and impassable thickets. The A side's track is “Glittery Skin”, it shows Merzbow-like pulsating electronic noises, but the main energy-giver is obscure and doomy heavy guitar riff. Sick, anarchic, trancesending …
Benjamin Bondonneau (clarinet) and Fabrice Charles (trombone). This double CD has been recorded in 2006 near the river called Dordogne. The two musicians are really integrated into the landscape, and they even manage to make it becoming the third musician. A great release limited to 1000 copies with a nice cover.
Great follow-up to the Swiss percussionist's first single. It has one side of music created by disturbing the skin of a drum head and another with a kind of spidery almost drumming. There is definitely the sense of a drum head being struck by something, but the touch is so light it really sounds more like rain on the roof of a metal building. Tup !’ - Byron Coley, The Wire, 2010’Here's the second volume of a projected series of four seven-inchers featuring Swiss improvising percussionist Christi…
LP version: for the ninth volume of FRKWYS, a music and film series pairing contemporary artists with those that may have preceded them in style and/or approach, Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras meet The Congos in Jamaica.
Dogs in English Porcelain (Vanessa Rossetto's fourth solo album on the label) is a composition for electronics, field recordings, viola, violin, cello and acoustic turntable. It was created with many layers of very quiet elements that advance and recede, forming the episodic structure of the piece. The overlapping of electronic and environmental sounds with extended technique and traditional playing disturbs the boundaries separating the natural and artificial, the intentional and the incidental…
Holy Strays follows up his scuzzy debut tape for NNF with two surprisingly lush and undeniably ace electronic trips. The meld of sparse, reverberating drums and plangent psych licks on 'Enlightenment' calls to mind Forest Swords jamming with a lo-fi Raime, on some sweet Hoffman's in a cabin in the Alps, after listening to loads of Amon Duul. Flipsude 'Phrenesia' is a moodier counterpoint, sucking us in with wormholing synthline while blunted programmed beats and a lone rave mistress vocal…
The Annual 'White Night' Festival in Tel Aviv is Israel's only cultural event dedicated to Improvised Music and Free Jazz. It is a twelve-hour musical marathon promoting creative, improvised music and facilitating collaborations between Israeli Artists and artists from abroad. It also fosters the development of young musicians, exposing their work to the world. The 2006 event was the second year this beautiful event took place and hopefully the tradition will continue in the years to come. This …
Kippenberger unplugged! Martin Kippenberger skipped out on this world after just 44 years -- in 1997, the art world's flamboyant enfant terrible, one of Germany's most famous painters best known for his biting provocations and prolific output, died of the consequences of his equally prolific alcohol consumption. In 1978, Kippenberger moved to Berlin, launched Kippenberger's Büro (together with his future gallerist Gisela Capitain) and became the managing director of Kreuzberg's seminal ve…
Rodney Keith Eskelin, aka Rodd Keith, aka Rod Rogers, would've certainly found the recognition during his lifetime that his talent demanded, if he hadn't chosen to work in the lowest depths of the music industry: the "send us your lyrics" field, known today as the song-poem genre. Saucers In The Sky gathers together twenty-six previously uncollected Rodd Keith gems from the hundreds upon hundreds of songs that he recorded before he leapt from a highway overpass in 1974. It would be inaccurate to…
a blurry midlife crisis for all children of the revolution! the A side of this psychedelic bumcrack is filled with 10 locked grooves, all vocal, some different panned brainbubbles, featuring one loop of Dennis Tyfus' personal alarm clock. All of these sounds played simultaneously at the 'Relax most of your muscles' Dennis Tyfus' solo exhibtion at Be Part in Waregem, Belgium, providing a non stop soundtrack that coincided with large paintings and around 20 film loops and drawings which cre…
