*150 copies limited edition* "Albe (Dawns) is a hybrid project built around the observation of a dawn through an online real-time camera system. The theme regarding processes of time and our presence within it lasting for several minutes is one that has had an enduring fascination for me. The work is presented both in performance form and as a fixed installation within a space. The choice of observation point is determined by the time of execution, which must coincide with a site where the position of the sun is approximately twelve degrees below the horizon."
Balancing on the fine line between rigorous experimentation, innovation, and tradition, the work of Sandro Mussida fosters an active listening approach, exploring the relationship between sound, space, and context, form and force, visible and invisible. Moving across the acoustic, electric, and electronic fields, he composes for orchestra, ensembles, soloists, and electronics.
His compositions challenge the standardisation of the Western ear (e.g., Musica Per Tre Sistemi Di Accordatura: EEEOOOOSSS, Soave, 2019; Rueben, Die Schachtel, 2021), investigate space as an active participant in the musical experience (Still–, Room40, 2024), or explore traditional musical forms (Dare Voce, Sony Classical, 2017; What Remains, from Spazio Per Azioni Luminescenti, Osàre Editions, 2023).
Mussida has collaborated with artists such as Mark Fell, CURL, Lorenzo Senni, Oren Ambarchi, Alessandra Novaga, Nicola Ratti, Coby Sey. Since 2014, alongside visual artist Rebecca Salvadori and soprano Olivia Salvadori, he curates and produces multidisciplinary events through the collective Tutto Questo Sentire. His works have been released by Sony Classical, Boomkat, Tapeworm, Blume Editions, Metrica, Soave Records, Die Schachtel, Room40.
