Gabor Szabo left Hungary after 1956, made his name in America with Chico Hamilton and on Impulse!. This session took place at the Europa Film studio in Stockholm on 6 and 7 January 1978, with Lars Samuelson producing for the Swedish Four Leaf Clover label, which released it in 1979.
The band is a Nordic jazz-rock line-up: the Finnish bassist Pekka Pohjola, the Swedish guitarist Janne Schaffer as a second guitar, Wlodek Gulgowski on piano, electric piano and Moog, Peter Sundell on drums and Malando Gassama on congas. Szabo's own 24 Carat fills fourteen minutes of side one, John Lewis's Django follows, and side two closes with Stormy, the Classics IV (!) hit.
