A cult band from the 1980s, Turin's "Franti" are an example of how great music can be made by rejecting any market rules and nurturing a small legend destined to become a benchmark in the Italian alternative scene. Franti are a project of poetry, music, and political struggle, a counter-cultural, anarchic group, never inclined to compromise. Their self-released "Luna Nera" (1983) defies all convention, presenting a jazz structure open to rock and folk, a punk soul, and a hardcore spirit. The album is a true underground masterpiece, featuring Lalli's intense voice and Stefano Giaccone's sax. Giaccone and Lalli would continue to churn out albums as solo artists and with other exciting projects.
