London-based experimental sound artist picoFarad returns with Survival Techniques from the Old World Volume 2, the second chapter in a strikingly original body of work that explores the sonic artifacts, tools, and forgotten practices of bygone eras.

Where Volume 1 mapped the terrain with sparse textures and fractured forms, this new installment dives deeper into the resonance of memory, decay, and invention. Layering found sounds, analogue signals, voice fragments, and electronic interference, picoFarad crafts an immersive aural landscape that blurs the boundaries between composition and archaeology. Each piece feels unearthed rather than composed, as if the music itself were a survival manual transmitted across centuries.

Recorded in London during a period of reflection and reconstruction, Volume 2 balances minimalism with density, intimacy with expansiveness. Shards of melody surface against a backdrop of rhythmic pulses, glitches, and textural drones, inviting the listener to inhabit a sound world at once ancient and futuristic. As with all of picoFarad’s work, the album resists easy categorization—sitting somewhere between experimental electronic, sound art, and speculative folk. It is less a record to be consumed than a practice to be experienced: a collection of auditory "techniques" for navigating the uncertainties of the present through echoes of the past.
