Four lost tracks
Monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. these eps contain distinguished electronic soundscapes related to mathematics and psycho-acoustics research made from 1981 to 1983 with analog synthesizers and micro-computers, including a commodore 64. with many materials never released or rarely available, six of these eight lost tracks see the light of day for the…
Axolotl lullabies
VERY LAST...It brings lights on the different activities of a great open-minded composer from Hamburg. All these tracks have been composed and recorded by Felix Kubin unless otherwise stated. They have appeared on rare or badly distributed releases. ThisLP  brings back to live these amazing tracks. The power of this release is to build bridges in between compositions belonging to various so-called genres in electronic music in such a way you will be trapped in one of the most enjoyable and…
Kokotsu No Sekai
Although Ike Reiko was a mere 17 years of age when she recorded 1971's Kokotsu No Sekai, she was already a star in the world of Japanese erotic movies. Despite the tough-gal image, the music is pretty darn life-affirming, so don't think for a second you're getting an easy listening album here -- this is about as sexual as music can get. Throw "French Kiss" out of the window and give a kiss goodbye to your Serge Gainsbourg records, Ike Reiko is more sizzling than a branding iron as it makes its m…
Simmetrie di Ritorno
Six compositions for chamber ensembles performed the Ensemble 2e2m by Giuliano D’Angiolini, ethnomusicologist and composer  who "is a positively unique figure in contemporary music. His profound, well-conceived and stubborn take on music has led him to what he calls »impersonal« music — music that has fully abandoned the idea of development or form. Through successive states of presentation, which aim to elucidate, d’Angiolini wanted to leave place in sound so that music could become less volunt…
Artefacts of Australian experimental music: volume II 1974-1983
In 2007, Shame File Music released the landmark compilation CD Artefacts of Australian experimental music: 1930-1973, to critical acclaim. Praised variously as one of the first serious investigations into the sparse recorded history of experimental sound practice in Australia, and its historical importance is as palpable as the often exciting and exhilaratingly experimental sounds it contains, the compilation and its extensive liner notes opened Australia’s (and the world’s) ears to a vib…
Gum Arabic
Annihaya is proud to release Sun City Girls' Gum Arabic, a limited edition of 1000 copies with artwork by artist Hatem Imam. All tracks on this CD are cover songs from Sun City Girl's repertoire, several frequently performed by the group live for more than 20 years. Several cuts were inspired by found unmarked cassettes and radio recordings made in Egypt and Morocco by Alan Bishop in the early 1980s. The original song titles and composers of the radio-inspired arrangements are unknown. SCG creat…
Dante's Disneyland Inferno
Dark and twisted storytelling by Charles Gocher backed by a variety of instrumental moods: bongo bohemia, C&W, lounge swing-swong, ooga-booga rock, children's melodies and all things in between. Includes two 'Uncle Jim' pieces, his first appearance since the debut LP in 1984. Also, 'Hector and Chino' features guest vocals by 9-year-old Crystal Gallegos. Much of the material on this release was originally recorded during the Torch of the Mystics sessions, remixed by Scott Colburn and the b…
330,003 Crossdressers From Beyond the Rig Veda
Originally released in 1996, it was their second double CD of the year (along with Dante's Disneyland Inferno). Partly an ethno-surrealist take on places and forms known (Indonesian gamelan, Bollywood soundtracks, Polynesian folk, surf stylistics, & sci-fi thematics) and partly a stupefying surreal ethnography of places yet to be discovered as the collective Bishop Brothers, Mssrs. Gocher and Kang walk that liminal tightrope between Here and There.""Kickin' the Dragon" was live recorded at the “…
We travel the space
We Travel the Spaceways was recorded at a handful of sessions in Chicago from 1956-1959, possibly 1960. Although several of the tunes also appear on other '50s era recordings, as usual, personnel and arrangements differ from album to album. Many of the tunes are quite bluesy, with tympani, bells, and percussion adding an exotic flair, but the big event here is the appearance of the "space chant," which would become an Arkestra calling card for decades to come. The band was starting to she…
Super-Sonic Jazz
The first album on Saturn! Despite the futurism that the title of the set might imply, the material on this LP is actually some of Sun Ra's earliest, and dates back to the years when the Arkestra was first beginning to make itself heard in Chicago. That doesn't stop the material from being amazing, though, as these prime early tracks really show how strong Ra's vision was, even when it was being applied to material that might look more simple on the surface.
Luna Surface
12th volume in the BYG Actuel series; 180 gram vinyl. "Super-session recorded in Paris on August 17, 1969. Alan Silva collected here many of the top free jazz players of the time, an incredible 11-piece ensemble featuring, among others, Grachan Moncur III, Archie Shepp, Anthony Braxton, Dave Burrell, Leroy Jenkins, and Malachi Favors. As a result, this is a very free record and a historical document of Pan-African high art music. Two tracks."
The solar-myth approach (vol2)
The vision of Sun Ra is placed within an experimental framework, as ambient music is shaped through the use of a Mini-Moog synthesizer in the pair of releases that were recorded in 1970-1971. The Solar-Myth Arkestra capture the special textures through the oboe, flute and drums of James Jacson. The landscape has a wonderful symmetry of colors and Sun Ra brings a sonic harmony to some of his most challenging works within his vast discography.
The Solar-Myth Approach (Vol. 1)
40th volume in the BYG Actuel series; gatefold sleeve, 180 gram vinyl. "'A wild and passionate interstellar mix of free jazz, solo synthesizer and hard rocking cosmic philosophy specifically commissioned by the BYG/Actuel label (and apparently recorded in New York between 1970 and 1971)... this material 'would prove to be one of the cornerstones of the entire Sun Ra/Arkestra career'... with Kwame Hadi, Akh Tal Ebah, Ali Hassan, Charles Stephens, Marshall Allen, Danny Davis, John Gilmore, Danny R…

"An album recorded in Paris (on June 22nd, 1969) with his wife Linda Sharrock plus Ben Guerin (bass) and Jacques Thollot (drums). Sonny Sharrock was one of the top avant-garde guitarists and his playing was intense and ferocious. He mixed together Jimi Hendrix and Pharoah Sanders." "Sharrock was the first guitarist to really embrace fire music. H…
Reese and the smooth ones
29th volume in the BYG Actuel series; gatefold sleeve, 180 gram vinyl. "Originally released on the French BYG Actuel label, this a classic album recorded in Paris during August 1969 while the Art Ensemble was on its initial stay there with just a quartet featuring Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors and Joseph Jarman. Reese And the Smooth Ones has a continuous piece featuring all the members playing lots of little instruments (horns, gongs, logs, bells, sirens, whistles, steel drums, m…
B-X0 NO-47A
15th volume in the BYG Actuel series; gatefold sleeve, 180 gram vinyl. "The first one of Braxton's two albums originally released in the BYG/Actuel series... this one was recorded at the Studio Saravah in Paris on September 10th, 1969 with the help of Leo Smith (trumpet), Leroy Jenkins (violin) and Steve McCall (drums)." From the Jazz Actuel boxset's liner notes: "Anthony Braxton's approach to music is a fantastic, almost alchemical fusion of elements, involving academic schemata, chess master l…
Improvisation Anarchy
With a title like ‘Improvisation Anarchy’, you pretty much have the blessed assurance that the record will be either a right-on, spontaneous surge of electricity, or at least an entertaining disaster. Recorded in 1978-79, this patchwork quilt of straight-arrow punk and meandering synth-assisted psychedelia manages to be both at the same time. It should be noted that this kind of music was not common for 1970s West Japan before the ‘bubble economy’ of the 80’s allowed for more impulsive consumpti…
Zouroku No Kibyou
Re-master of Hijokaidan's first album, originally released in 1982, "Zouroku No Kibyou" was a 1982 LP featuring some legendary early Hijokaidan performances, back when they had a over a dozen people in the band! The folding cd booklet includes a photo collage documenting the insanity, with much in the way of food and fluids being flung about.
Tapes
** long op, few copies back in stock** Originally released in 1986 as an LP on Alchemy Records. With a cover and title paying homage to their krautrock heroes Faust, Hijokaidan's Tapes is a crucial entry in their discography, a record originally released in 1986 as sort of a career retrospective to date, comprising tracks from various eras and lineups, all only previously available on cassette. It starts off way back in 1979 with Hijokaidan's first ever recording, the studio-destroying (so …
