Clay Pipe Music is thrilled to welcome to the label Norway’s Rural Tapes - the alias of producer and multi-instrumentalist Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen. His new record Oneiric is one for the dreamers - a trippy, cosmic aural experience of mostly instrumental music, recorded on analogue equipment at his Nygrenda Vev & Dur studio in rural Norway. Arne is also joined on two vocal tracks by long-time collaborators Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) and Gary Olson (The Ladybug Transistor).
He says: “The word Oneir…
The Melancholy Mad Tenant, a collaboration between Coil, The New Blockaders, and Vortex Campaign, is a remastered anthology of radical noise, drone, and experimental anti‑music. It delivers brutal textures, haunting silences, and fierce creative interplay, pushing sound to extremes where chaos and restraint strangely converge.
*2025 stock* Mahti are a Finnish four-piece group presenting a unique mixture of ambient-rock, electronic music and traditional Finnish-Karelian music.
Lengthy semi-improvisational pieces are built on top of complex, hypnotic grooves which are layered with opaque guitars and strangely soothing noise elements. In the heart of it all there's kantele, an ancient Finnish string instrument played by Hannu Saha, who has studied Finnish folk music in theory and practice for nearly five decades.

Tip! There are imagined landscapes we all carry within us—dreamed, half-remembered, or just beyond reach. Lofoten, the new album by Cate Francesca Brooks on Clay Pipe Music, is a musical reflection on one such place. Located above the Arctic Circle, Norway's Lofoten Islands are known for their dramatic peaks, open seascapes, and distinctive red fishing cabins dotting the shoreline. Though Brooks has never visited this remote northern region, it became an unexpected source of inspiration. The pro…
In English, the Shona word "Useza" means someone of great skill, meticulousness, and precision, and it perfectly illuminates Sekuru Chaka Chawasarira's lifelong practice. The eminent Zimbabwean artist and educator is among the last remaining masters of the matepe, a large mbira-style instrument that's played with both thumbs and index fingers to expand its rhythmelodic complexity. And on 'Useza', he fully demonstrates the matepe's illusory potential, overdubbing hypnotic sequences to provoke shi…
Debut album merging Belarusian pagan songs, sung in dialects by Hanna Silivonchyk, with synths and field recordings from national parks. Explores personal and universal experiences through folk and myth.
"When a Russian missile struck the ground not far from my studio in Kyiv, I vividly remember how my body reacted to the explosion, milliseconds before my mind did. That traumatic explosion reduced my essence to a primal state. There existed nothing but dread—the kind that, in scripture, accompanies the appearance of angels announcing, ’Be not afraid’. The visions of 12th-century Abbess, composer and mystic Hildegard von Bingen were preceded by bright, excruciating flashes of light. Modern medici…
Plume Girl’s ‘Unnameable Glory’ merges Hindustani, ambient, and pop, dissolving boundaries between language, sound, and feeling. Somanath explores the luminous freedom found beyond definition and the joy of shared, wordless experience.
*180 copies limited edition* Venice Affair seeks only to give humans a look into their own lives, history, suffering, and peace, all while providing a backbeat sprinkled with sexuality, romanticism, and especially entertainment. The concept of “Ascension” is much larger than a description of upward motion; it is the human description of our evolution from four to two, from caves to high rises, from child to elder, and from stardust to flesh. This collection of songs has been in the works since 2…
The Minute Hours | Les Heures Secondes is the sixth album of Belgian solo act Half Asleep. Recorded at home with friends, The Minute Hours | Les Heures Secondes took over a decade to bring to fruition. This is an ambitious album, more spacious and bold than its predecessors, often taking unexpected paths and detours. Built around Valérie’s guitar and piano, Half Asleep's crepuscular acoustic universe is however still very much and recognizably her own. It is here augmented by a textured cello, a…
"This album has been a long time coming. We were lucky enough to do a tape in 2022 with Jeremy Hurewitz (aka Rootless) called what the truth leaves out. But this is the first time we’ve been able to work with long-time fave, Matt Lajoie, who appears with Ash Brooks as half of the no-longer-active duo, Starbirthed. The idea for this pairing was presented to us by Jeremy, who recorded the album at his cabin in southern Vermont in 2019. Jeremy’s Rootless project generally features at least a soupço…
This new chapter of Baccano intertwines the sonic roots of Southern Italy with contemporary musical languages, thanks to the collaboration between two artists who, despite coming from different backgrounds, share an intense exploration of traditional rhythms.
2000 release ** "In The Land Of Melancholy as the band's first official release is to present it - in the musicians' intention - from the most accessible side. Hence, the album mainly features atmospheric ballads. However, it is easy to read in them the band's wealth of experience, passion and inspiration. The psychedelic tradition of the 60s is complemented by the spatiality of electronic sounds, which refers to the cosmic German psychedelia of the early 70s (e.g. Cosmic Jokers), or its contemp…
2011 release ** "Black Eagle Child has the uncanny ability to marry pastoral post-folk – high humidity front porch rambles to sparse and exploratory arpeggios that are thick with pathos and tinged with nostalgia for the disappearing horizon of definable memories – and soaring guitar lines that ascend above the field recordings and layers of looped acoustic and electric guitars. Lobelia creates emotional landscapes of great loss combined with those flying dreams that we have where we are soaring …
2012 release ** Packaged in fabric sleeve. "Behind Me And The White Lash are Stefano De Ponti of Passo Uno and Eleonora Pellegrini. The project accentuates on one hand the ambient/soundtrack vocation of Passo Uno, on the other it merges it with more traditional forms, giving life to gentle and dry “songs”, almost folk one might write, during which you can appreciate Eleonora’s voice: the contemplative “The Island”, for example, not to mention a sorrowful “La Morte Del Tocco”. Part of this materi…
2025 Stock. Last copies. Annelies Monseré always has had the urge to record many versions of one song and then remaining deeply in doubt which version to choose. For this release, she did not chose. (Though this is not completely true - there are still more versions of the song - including an a cappella version) She was interested in how different arrangements, tempo's, melodies and structures changed the expressive and aesthetic qualities of the song, convinced that no version is more 'essentia…
