Einstürzende Neubauten

Einstürzende Neubauten is a German group formed in West Berlin in 1980 by Blixa Bargeld and N.U. Unruh. The name translates roughly as "collapsing new buildings". The band plays instruments made from scrap metal and building tools, and its early records were harsh and heavily percussive. The group has stayed active for more than four decades, with Bargeld and Unruh still at its core. F.M. Einheit joined in 1981 and Mark Chung soon after, and Alexander Hacke became a regular member in the early 1980s.
