Jacques Thollot
Jacques Thollot (1946-2014) was a French drummer and composer who worked in jazz and free jazz from the late 1950s until his death. Thollot started out as a teenager in the Paris clubs, where Kenny Clarke became his teacher, and in the 1960s he played with Jef Gilson, Eric Dolphy and Don Cherry. His first album under his own name was Quand le son devient aigu, jeter la girafe à la mer (Futura, 1971), a solo record on which he played drums, percussion, piano and organ.
