Nate Morgan (1953-2013) was a Los Angeles jazz pianist and composer, a key figure in the city's creative music community. A student of Joe Sample and Hampton Hawes, he joined Horace Tapscott's UGMAA collective as a teenager, going on to work alongside Arthur Blythe, Bobby Bradford, Pharoah Sanders and Azar Lawrence, among others. He recorded three albums for Nimbus West and was conductor of the Ujaama Ensemble. A stroke in 2008 ended his performing career.
