GBK are an Austrian free jazz trio that isn't afraid of being groovy. The band was founded in 2007 after a first meeting the year before, being thrown together in an improvised music session. They performed many years under the name of KGB before changing their name recently due to Russian war against Ukraine. All three musicians are happy to swap roles in their trio, therefore abstract experimental sounds have the same place in their repertoire as groove and melody. Drummer Didi Kern works both…

*150 copies limited edition* In line with his recent body of work, Uwe Zahn bundled minimal compositions telling narratives situating in the melodic realm of ambient music. On first sight, it seems common that one can enter or construct such stories through the melodies these compositions offer. However, melodies never stand on their own – maybe only theoretically – but in fact truly reveal their magic through the sonical context they’re embedded in. To Zahn, a crucial part of his practice is al…
*2023 stock* Siddhartha, named after a novel by Hermann Hesse, were formed in 1973 in Korntal near Stuttgart. They performed an intelligent mix-ture of progressive and art rock influenced by psychedelia and folk. It was released in a limited edition of 400 copies and is now one of the most sought-after collectors’ items. A thirty minute demo tape by Siddhartha which was recorded after the re…
"I could smell the curves of the river beyond the dusk and I saw the last light supine and tranquil upon tide-flats like pieces of broken mirror, then beyond them lights began in the pale clear air, trembling a little like butterflies hovering a long way off." - William Faulkner.
This is the third and final instalment of Jeremiah M. Carter’s album triptych, »Vessels«. Following »Rejoice« and »Speak You Also«, all three album’s where conceived within a 6 month period during ferociously exalting …

Tip! "A cycle of six movements and a coda, Six Seasons is as protean as the ocean waters that serve as its substance and underlying metaphor. In creating a space of many spaces and multiple temporalities, Lei Liang (b. 1972) resides in select company, artists who have fashioned a syntax of exploration both attendant to and divergent from music history’s established grooves and curves of innovation and tradition. Of the composers now lionized through the ever-expanding and often-arbitrary canon, …
Tabulatura is a 2008 indeterminate composition for sixteen pre-recorded guitar parts and computer with custom software. It is conceived as a system to generate different acoustic patterns. The Volume 2 documents eight pieces recorded live at Palazzo Castagna, Città Sant'Angelo, Italy, in November 2020. The album was recorded on two-track, directly on hard drive, without DSP and overdubs.
The pieces combined here have emerged as an outcome of my research into database-driven reconstructions based on sound analysis. All the source material has been created with the UPIC system (Iannis Xenakis) a graphical computer system where users draw shapes, waveforms, and modulations on ‘pages’ that form a composition or composed sound.
The material was recorded between September 2006 and March 2007 at the CCMIX institute in Paris. None of those recordings ever made it to a completed work unt…
*2023 stock* The album ‘DnT’ shows a collaboration that shares pure rock energy and electroacoustic manipulation, amplified drums and distorted tape, feedback and re-injection, live processing and diversion. A large tape loop was also set up on two supplementary reel-to-reel tape recorders to create a random memory, delayed and unstable, acting like a distorting mirror. This recording is the result of two days’ work at Centre Culturel André Malraux de Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy, France, in July 2018.

*2023 stock. 250 copies limited release* Drone Records launches a new CD series named "SYM" which could be understood as a place holder for different notions and inner processes (such as Symmetrization, Symbiosis, Symbolization, forming an epistemological circle of inter- relations) - associated with the act of perceiving and understanding sound on a substantial level... old and new heroes from the past and future of experimental transcension atmo noises and drones. *250 copies limited edition* This Friesian multi media artist with two works on one CD: his compositions combine drone-ambient and electroacoustic elements and passages in a wonderful way (sometimes spheric, sometime bizarre, sometimesmelancholic) = various instrumental, vocal and electronic sources are building a hypnotic and poetic web, very complex and with many unexpected twists and surprises in the mix... this album is like a little wonder!
The CD combines two complete works by the artist: …
*2023 stock. 250 copies limited edition* The second release in the new CD series "SYM" from Drone Records, sounds from realms of Symbolization & Symmetrization! These are new recordings from Chicago's Illusion of Safety: microscopic audio events, loops, heavily processed material of all kinds form seven multi-layered tracks that seem to be full of electro-magnetic static, morphing and transforming like a hallucinogenic object.
*2023 stock. 200 copies limited edition* "Seeing such a political statement on an RLW CD is something I don't recall seeing before. It is about the pandemic and the conspiracy theories that spawned, which I (too) believe is the true disease of our times. "I can read", usually means, "I like to cherry-pick popular notions", and "science is an opinion" is usually said by someone who has no clue as to what science is. Or, as I challenged someone: "How do you prove that all swans are white" to which…
The Brooklyn producer’s heavily abstracted ambient music offers a choice between deep listening or blissful distraction. It’s equally gratifying either way.
Listen to Location Location Location’s debut, Damaged Goods, and it’s easy to visualize the three musicians sweating it out in the recording studio, locking in on a groove and just jamming. With, it should be noted, occasional breaks to contemplate the basics, then add subtle overdubs: some bit-crunched guitar here, a marimba there, perhaps a harmonized line or a spacey reverb effect. But essentially live, essentially just three guys in a room, giving their all. But that’s not how it went down a…
Whitney K and band are back with an electric live album that captures the best from their classics ‘Two Years’ and ‘Hard To Be A God’, including a few nuggets from the back catalog and the unreleased tune aptly titled ‘Dire Straits’. If ‘Two Years’ was the thunder, the rawness and the spirit, a combination of outsider folk, modern psych, grit, humor and everything in between, ‘Hard To Be A God’ was the sophistication, the dedication, the mind traveling far and beyond… ‘Vivi!’ is the hot sauce mi…
Lisbon based keyboardist, João ‘Shela’ Pereira, a frequent collaborator with many local bands (Paus, Rinding Pânico, LAmA, Linda Martini and others) presents a new strangely haunting album, TV Songs.
A scrapbook of recordings from the heart... Piano TV is a compendium of spontaneous notes of ideas on the piano, to the rhythm of a television set in the background... these are scraps of expression in a form of dirty bucolic sketches aspiring to a hypothetical larger, washed, pristine composition…
GAF are back! This time under their Estrella de la Muerte configuration and with a gateway musical behemoth double album into the cosmic unknown. The prolific project, helmed by local Canarian anchorman Mladen Kurajica, dwells deep into esoteric rock genres and this time, they waste no time in plunging the listener into their brave new type of cosmic rock with a deeply influenced krautrock voyage of '70s jamming and psychonautic exploration. Recorded over three days in the cultural space of El T…
