Cubic Zirconia / Bad Karlshafen
Kye is proud to present a new 7' coupling from Philadelphia's Good Area, expanding and refining the signature sound first heard on 2013's 'French Antarctica' LP. 'Cubic Zirconia' offers a coarse instrumental homage to the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. 'Bad Karlshafen' delivers a stark, text-based rumination on the breakfast habits of the Huguenots, collapsing ice-rinks and astral photography, bundled together in a viper's nest of non sequiturs. 'Cubic Zirconia' b/w 'Bad Karlshafen…
Raven Yr Own Worl
Ralph Cumbers' Bass Clef debuts on PAN with four pieces of fluent modular acid. The most substantial dancefloor drop on a tour of duty which has seen him release on Public Information, Punch Drunk, Alter, and Mordant Music (as Some Truths) in the past 6 months or so, his 'Raven Yr Own Worl' EP carves a dead English dance sound from his favoured Bug Brand modular system, made by Tom Bug of Bristol. For want of a more concise phrase, it's a Radiophonic Dub Rave style, coming off like the eager off…

Untitled
Re-issue of one of the earliest Confront releases, originally available in an edition of 50 in 2001. Matt Davis : trumpet. Phil Durrant : violin. Mark Wastell : violoncello. 'The All Angels concert series ran between 1999 and 2001. Co-curated by Rhodri Davies and myself, we wanted to find an environment that was acoustically articulate enough to present our own quickly developing style of music. Rhodri found the perfectly beautiful Norman Shaw designed church, close to his then home, in Chiswick…
Split
While Dylan Nyoukis has become on the great out vocal performers of the past two decades, his backbone of crude fluxus certified tape collage is what got him into the main event scene back in the 90's. Secondary Skin is almost a throwback album for the Nyoukis fan. The spontaneity and natural course of direction of his bellyaches combined with straight no chaser editing complete the experience. Fleshtone Aura is the current persona of Gastric Female Reflex founder and visual artist Andrew Zukerm…
Stone North
Mastered by Keith Souza & Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets, Pawtucket RI. Estuary Ltd. is proud to present Stone North, internationally-renowned sound artist Ed Osborn's first full-length album since 1989. For this album, Osborn - whose work is included in the permanent collection of SFMOMA and has been presented at ZKM (Karlsruhe, DE), Mass MoCA (North Adams, MA), the Sonic Arts Research Centre (Belfast, NI) and the singuhr-hörgalerie (Berlin, DE) - has culled together a collection of r…
Aulos' Second Reed
Aulos' Second Reed is a massive development in the transverse music created by Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides. Pascal Nichols and Kelly-Jayne Jones go outside of themselves and become a whole listening unit with a singular pulse. Side A is elegance personified. Using what appears at first to be a two person small Gakaku style setup which leads the listener through occasional tympani playing and a flute response that sounds like it came a hundred years before this time. As each player moves …
Seed
If previous releases for Nihilist, Arbor and his own Catholic Tapes established Chicago\'s Brett Naucke as one of the more accomplished practitioners in the American synth underground, Seed, his debut LP for Spectrum Spools, is a veritable career apex, brimming with sonic ingenuity, detail, and mastery over both instrument and musical form. It is hard to fathom due to the sheer diversity of sound and affectations of the eight individual pieces on the album, but Seed was recorded -- almost im…
Things That A Mutant Needs To Know
A collection of fifty-five short tales and fifty-five brief musical works composed by a momentary collective of eighteen musicians. Reinaldo Laddaga has created the fictional second volume of an anthology that Argentinean writers Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares published in Buenos Aires in 1956. The result is an enchanting and somber collection of very short texts, where the most diverse authors (from Lucian of Samosata to Virginia Woolf, from Emmanuel Swedenborg to Blaise Cendrars) te…
Mouths that Reap the Harvest
Recorded in 2013 shortly after the release of "Edenfall", this first vinyl LP from the American death industrial project explores the destructive realities of industrialized agriculture, Heathen atavism and humanity's continuing exemptionalist arrogance and loss of a spiritual connection to nature. The three tracks feature composed layers of grinding analog electronics, melodic synths, droning guitar, heavy percussion, scrap metal and a brutal vocal delivery that listeners have come to expect fr…
Strata
'Strata has been constructed from recording made in a series of vacant lots and their immediate surrounds in the north-west of Melbourne. These vacant lots are backed onto by various factories and warehouses on one side and a train line and Moonee Ponds creek (perhaps more aptly described as a concrete storm water drain) on the other. Running some 20 meters above all this is a large multi-lane highway overpass. This area has interested me for some time, the creeks and their walking paths act as …
Zeltini
Maksims Shentelevs, Eamon Sprod, John Grzinich, Kaspars Kalninsh, Felicity Mangan. 'Revenant' is an ongoing project with open membership that focuses on site-specific acoustic actions. All sounds originate from materials found in-situ, and from interactions with the space itself. There were some 'dark' elements surrounding this session. It was mid-November in the Baltics which meant that it was cold, gray and the sun goes down early. By the time we entered the bunker and set up to record there w…
Paradise & Winchester
Paradise & Winchester was created in late 2011 for the Belgian imprint Unfathomless who's credo is to commission works that 'illustrate artists personal fascination for specific locations, either natural, human built, or fictitious'. In response to this, Novak chose a location that he had never been to, yet knew he would have a strong reaction to, Las Vegas, NV. The piece focuses on 'The Las Vegas Strip', a portion of Las Vegas Boulevard outside the city limits spanning two unincorporated townsh…
Quelques usines fantomes
“As a listener, I'm always intrigued as to what attracts me or doesn't with regard to works in the field recording vein. The same applies to other areas of music as well, of course, but it's especially interesting in these works composed of sounds generally taped on site and, to a lesser or greater degree, assembled back in the studio. They're simply sounds, after all, more or less what I could hear on my own by concentrating on my surroundings at any given moment (allowing for different sources…
History of violence
Sounds were recorded in the Belanglo State Forest, 150 kilometres to the south of Sydney, Australia. Its quiet solitude and isolation contrasts dramatically with its turbulent and macabre history Ð the scene for a series of horrific murders in the early 90's at the hands of one of Australia's most notorious serial killers. I choose Belanglo as a location due to my own somewhat morbid fascination with its history, but also due to its virtually indistinct organic character. It is essentially a for…
Live at Area Sismica
Ken Vandermark, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, clarinet. Paal Nilssen-Love, drums, Terrie Ex, guitar, Andy Moor, guitar. 'Live at Area Sismica' is Lean Left's fifth live recording, the second released on Unsounds, and by far the best, most versatile and exciting yet. Recorded live at Area Sismica in Forli Italy, September 22 2012, the final date of a long tour with thousands of kilometres behind them: the band at this point have played enough dates in a row to have become a very tight unit…
s/t
Fred Frith, electric guitar. Michel Doneda, soprano and sopranino saxes. First meeting recorded live at Swissnex, San-Francisco (February 2009).
Three vertical swells
Three vertical swells' (2010) consists of three nine-minute movements for Hammond organ, amplified ensemble and sinewaves. The piece indirectly takes its title from an analysis of the Leslie loudspeakers used in the piece. Two significant elements - the speed of the revolving Leslie horns and a curious, glissando-like fuzz which seemed to emanate from the loudspeakers - were subsequently translated on to the music as a whole. Both of these elements served as a direct source for the sine-patch, w…
Bauteile
The over 70 minutes of "Bauteile" (German for "construction parts") were recorded from 1987 through 2013 and edited into a continuous flow over the last three years. Atom TM and Marc Behrens met during the heyday of the German techno movement and have ever since pursued extensive trend research in all areas of contemporary music. Their findings, a sonification of their research, which spans effectively two centuries of musical development, are now released as an album for the first time b…
Articulacao
Articulação deepens Hecker's collaboration with Reza Negarestani, author of the libretto created for Hinge. In two distinct renderings this piece articulates a complex scene in which the two obelisks of the script - one from the perspective of nature and one from the perspective of culture - are recited simultaneously in an informational yet dramatic style. Hinge features the legendary artist Joan La Barbara as its main voice and is delivered in microtonally converging pitches with sparse sample…
