By Neu! '75 the partnership had split straight down the middle, and the record wears the divide openly. Side one belongs to Michael Rother: serene, gliding instrumentals that point toward the pastoral electronics of Harmonia and his later solo work. Side two belongs to Klaus Dinger: louder, wilder, with Dinger himself at the microphone barking over a proto-punk clatter that bands in London would shortly catch up to. Neu! would not make another record for decades.
Held together by little more than mutual stubbornness, Neu! '75 is the sound of two visions sharing a sleeve and barely a room. On United Artists.
