Under the name alias Junior Rain, Francesco Cavaliere and Matteo Martino approach Capelli di Cristallo as if they were sculpting weather inside a glass box. The credits are disarmingly simple - Cavaliere on e.bass, percussions and electronics, Martino on synth‑keyboard, sampling and electronics - yet the music they carve from that limited setup feels anything but minimal. Instead of foregrounding virtuoso solos or song structures, the duo focus on the points where low‑end pressure, fractured rhythm and saturated timbre begin to blur. Cavaliere’s bass lines slide between dub‑like pulse and brittle, melodic shards, often thickened by subtle effects; his small percussion figures and electronic interventions act like drops on a surface, sending ripples across the stereo field. Around and through this, Martino’s synth and samples smear harmony into colour, releasing glinting tones, disembodied fragments and soft‑edged chords that give the record its “crystal hair” shimmer.
