Already renowned for her interpretations of John Cage and Philip Glass, on #Darklight Italian harpist Floraleda Sacchi working solo with acoustic and electric harps, electronic devices and ambient recordings, her compelling interpretations expose the enigmatic quality of the compositions. "People often ask me why I play the harp," says Floraleda. "I think this fully unites my contrasts. Restlessness and curiosity accompany me and therefore Darklight, the dark light (which is not an oxymoron, but an extreme perception of the eye and mind) is a state of grace. With this attitude, I compose or adapt pieces that combine acoustic and digital, without distinguishing where a delay ends and a pad created with a violin bow on the harp strings begins, without knowing where a digital filter or a neoprene damper acts on the strings, which is a harmonic or a compressed sample. I worked without preclusions trying to recreate the music I have in my head. I find it fascinating to work with an acoustic instrument and with electronics (a form of craftsmanship that requires hours of dedication as much as playing a musical instrument) and the union provides an incredible means to create something extremely personal.""
