The first four volumes of Occam Ocean, the cycle Éliane Radigue has been building since 2011, together in one bundle from Shiiin. Every Occam piece is worked out with the musicians who play it, session after session in Radigue's Paris apartment, from a palette of sounds and an image of water: no score, only oral transmission and listening.
Occam Ocean 1 (2CD) gathers the first solos, duos and trios for harp, viola, birbynė and bass clarinet with Rhodri Davies, Julia Eckhardt and Carol Robinson. Occam Ocean 2 expands the cycle to a full orchestra, the ONCEIM conducted by Frédéric Blondy. Occam Ocean 3 brings together three string players, Julia Eckhardt, Silvia Tarozzi and Deborah Walker, recorded in an abbey near Bologna. Occam Ocean 4 sets alto saxophone, voice, treble viol, birbynė and bass clarinet with Bertrand Gauguet, Yannick Guédon and Carol Robinson.
Five CDs, more than five hours of music in which almost nothing seems to move while beats, overtones and difference tones keep shifting inside each sustained sound.
Bundle of four releases: Occam Ocean 1 (2CD), Occam Ocean 2, Occam Ocean 3 and Occam Ocean 4.
