**Limited to 300 copies in hand painted jackets* Decimus 8 stands as one of the most enigmatic chapters in the ongoing saga of Decimus, the solo project of Pat Murano—a foundational figure in New York’s experimental underground, known for his work with No-Neck Blues Band, the blackened drone of Malkuth, the duo K-Salvatore, and the collective Key of Shame. Released on the Kelippah label in a strictly limited edition of 300 hand-painted jackets, this LP is the fifth in a projected series of twelve albums, each inspired by the zodiacal meditations of the Roman poet and rhetorician Decimus Magnus Ausonius.
The album opens with a cryptic invocation:
“Oh bitter Heshvan!
Destroyer of the Kingdom of Solomon.
Noun hath brought downfall to your doorstep.
Metatron be your guide.
There is light in this darkness.”
Dedicated to Rabbi Hiya, Decimus 8 is steeped in mystical and esoteric references, weaving Jewish numerology, apocalyptic imagery, and occult symbolism into its very fabric. Musically, the LP is a masterclass in synthetic psychedelia and ritual electronics. Murano’s arsenal of analog synthesizers, processed guitars, and spectral effects conjures a sound world that alternates between disorientation and elation. The textures are dense and immersive, with drones and pulses that evoke the trance logic of Coil, the shadowy atmospheres of Nurse With Wound, and the slow-burning intensity of Demdike Stare.
