Gatefold book-sleeve.

Floh de Cologne began as a troupe of radical Cologne theatre students and spent the 1970s making some of the most uncompromisingly political rock in Germany, agitprop welded to fuzz and Hammond. Mumien (1974), subtitled a cantata for rock band, is their response to the Pinochet coup in Chile the previous September, going so far as to set the final radio address of the deposed president Salvador Allende to music.

Recorded for Pläne at Conny Plank's studio, it trades some of the rawness of the band's Ohr years for a folkier, narrative sweep, the better to carry its story. The grim fold-out sleeve was designed by H.R. Giger, and it is half the artifact. Polemical, period-bound, and unlike anything else in the sale.
