The Star Pillow

*2024 stock. 70 copies limited edition* "Four tracks that correspond to as many aphasic dialogues: the indication coming from the title of Paolo Monti's new work could not be clearer, as well as fully responding to its content. In fact, the Tuscan guitarist, increasingly prolific under the alias The Star Pillow, deliberately places himself 'off-screen' in the (sin)aesthetic observation of defined spaces and, even more so, of fleeting memories and sensations.

The melancholic sublimation of 'Ultimo ballo' (Last dance), the imposing liquid iteration of 'Piena' (Full), the sorrowful granularity of 'Pena' and the aerial vision of 'Spaccanapoli' (Spaccanapoli) represent not mere descriptive glimpses, but true personal snapshots, captured with 'hauntological' sensitivity. Rather, the dialogues appear to be those of the artist with the objects of his observation, whether physical or emotional, translated into sequences of a sound that, once emitted, gradually expands until it becomes one with the places and stories narrated, without words, through an ambience with unconventional cinematographic traits." - musicwontsaveyou.com
