Stéphane Hoareau

With Ritual Riots, Stéphane Hoareau delivers a deeply rooted work in créolité, conceived as a force of unity, resistance, and transmission. A guitarist from Réunion Island and a key figure in the emergence of contemporary global music scenes, Hoareau continues his commitment to revitalizing maloya - transforming it with boldness and creativity into a living, open, and contemporary heritage.

Through his collective projects and radical approach to musical ritual, he develops an aesthetic where trance becomes a universal language. The press has consistently praised the intensity of his work: "An incandescent maloya, driven by rock energy and a rare spiritual dimension" (Radio Nova). His artistic journey spans multiple territories—from electrified reinterpretations of maloya with Trans Kabar to jazz and collective improvisation projects—always guided by the same vision: to transmit and reinvent a living tradition.
