Stephen Thrower is a British musician, composer and author. In 1984 he appeared as a guest on the first Coil album, Scatology, then joined the group until his departure in 1992, contributing to seven Coil albums in total. Between 1999 and 2015 he worked as Cyclobe, a duo formed with his partner Ossian Brown (also a former Coil member). Cyclobe released four albums – Luminous Darkness, The Visitors, Wounded Galaxies Tap At The Window and Sulphur-Tarot-Garden – on their own record label Phantomcode. They also contributed to a remix project by Nurse With Wound, resulting in the collaborative album Paraparaparallelogrammatica.
Stephen currently performs with the group UnicaZürn, whose five albums so far include two – Transpandorem and Sensudestricto – for the UK label Touch. He also writes books on cult and exploitation cinema, including volumes on Italian director Lucio Fulci, Spanish eroticist Jess Franco, and a study of American grindhouse cinema (Nightmare USA). This CD collects his soundtrack work for films, including Ben Wheatley’s Down Terrace, the first ever Pakistani gore film Hell’s Ground, and the erotic short films of gay pioneer Peter De Rome.
