The 20th of March marks the beginning of the astronomic spring. It is also the release date of the long awaited new album by S.J. (Johan) Borger. With his Electric Chamber Orchestra he sets to explore the relation between sound, composition and play. A personal journey back to the light, that invites the listener to escape this busy and noisy world. The first new album by Johan Borger (1984) in 14 years sees the light of day on the first day of spring, 20 March 2026. This is not a coincidence. Spring Is Here, Don’t You Know is a personal, instrumental album on which the artist investigates the relation between sound, composition and play. Technique and romance. Dynamic perfectionism, imperfection and impact.

Recovering from a dark period in his life, Borger played his way back to the light. while speaking and  language where still too wearisome, whole worlds came to existence with his guitar in hand. Like a film in sound or wordless poetry, with a touch of Americana, a hint of roots, a whiff of jazz and neo classical but mostly a strong voice of its own. Borger recorded the improvisations and compositions in a minimalistic and traditional manner without edits or overdubs direct to tape, to bring the listener as close to the music as possible and to tell an honest story. A gentle rebellion against AI. On his sound quest Borger opened up amplifiers, soldered, wired and re-soldered and re-wired plugs, cables and pedals. The result speaks for itself. Spring Is Here, Don’t You Know has a warm signature sound that effortlessly finds it’s way to the
listeners heart. The sound is colorful and almost tactile.

1 guitarist, 2 microphones, 3 Benson tube amps, 3 analog delays and a tape recorder make up Borger’s Electric Chamber Orchestra. The meandering improvisations and composition are minimalistic and meditative. Borger thinks of the album as ‘an almost physical place you can visit to rest and escape the rushed and noisy world’.
