The starting point consists of recordings of acoustic instruments: baritone saxophone, alto clarinet, hammered dulcimer, cello, violin, and voice. If, Bwana has imbued these sounds with a new dimension through various forms of modulation, instrumental preparation, and looping; nevertheless, the recordings largely retain an acoustic character.

The Ice Moons evokes an atmosphere akin to contemporary classical music, only to shift into spacious, almost cosmic soundscapes and, ultimately, unsettling drones. The beautiful cover art harmonizes perfectly with the album's title.
