Very rare original edition on RA Records of the 1980 album.

condition (record/cover): NM / NM (in shrink)

A Chicago trumpet player who came up through the AACM, worked with Lester Bowie and Archie Shepp, survived a serious illness that took him off the scene for years, and came back to build an entire body of work around the connection between the blues, gospel and the avant-garde. Malachi Thompson was never interested in the idea that free playing and the tradition were opposed, and his records consistently sit in the space between. The Seventh Son is early and self-released, which means it has the rawness and the independence that the later Delmark albums smoothed out slightly.

Original pressing on Ra Records. Chicago independent production, scarce and increasingly asked about.
