Six years after the first Ultras Timido, Fanciullino returns to that initial spark not to preserve it under glass, but to see what still burns. Ultras Timido 2 is less a simple reissue than a palimpsest: the original record is there, but written over, complicated and expanded by three previously unreleased pieces that trace how the duo’s repertoire has shifted in rehearsal rooms, clubs, and improvised spaces. Those added tracks don’t behave like bonuses tacked on at the end; they act as fault lines, revealing new ways of thinking about the same skeletal materials - guitar, drums, and the friction between two temperaments that refuse to smooth each other out. The project listens back to 2019 from the vantage point of 2025, testing which gestures still feel necessary and which have been stripped away by time and touring.

In this new configuration, Ultras Timido 2 openly reflects the group’s evolving approach to live performance. Over the years, the pieces have hardened in some places, frayed in others: tempos pushed, breaks extended, riffs reduced to their nerve endings. The three new tracks function as distilled evidence of that process, capturing the way the duo has learned to lean into risk, silence, and abrupt change without losing the directness that defined the first album. You can hear a clearer sense of stagecraft in the pacing - sections set up not just as compositions on paper, but as situations that can breathe differently night after night. At the same time, the record acts as a bridge, pointing forward to a brand-new album slated for September: ideas glimpsed here feel like sketches, premonitions of a more radical next step.
