The Almoravid
*In process of stocking* Terrific session just released in 1974 on influential independent Muse. A modal masterpiece verging on spiritual jazz with a series of excellent players: from Richard Davis and Cecil McBee on bass to Ray Mantilla on congas and percussion, through Harold Vick distinctive flute and tenor sax. The major voice on this record belongs to the traps of Joe Chambers. The enormous potency combined with complete authority and tonal clarity that Chambers brings to the drums has made…
Magic Lady
*In process of stocking* Spriguns Of Tolgus (later shortened to just Spriguns) were a British folk-rock group formed in 1972, who have long been admired by connoisseurs of that era. Having made two self-funded albums, they attracted a major label deal with Decca for two further LPs, which demonstrated their growing originality, and caught the attention of some significant figures in that world. After two Decca albums Mandy decided to form her own label and rebranded as Mandy Morton and Spriguns …
The Madcap Laughs
*2022 stock. In process of stocking* 180g vinyl reissue gatefold LP on Rhino. ‘The Madcap Laughs’ is the debut solo album by the English singer-songwriter recorded after Syd Barrett had left Pink Floyd. That appears to be the pre-release we were given. It is, intermittently, one of the finest albums of its era. Not slick by any stretch of the imagination but full of left-field ideas.
Opel
*2022 stock. In process of stocking* 180g vinyl reissue of this sought-after compilation of rare and unreleased material from the legendary Pink Floyd frontman. Compiled from recordings made between 1968 and 1970, including takes from 'The Madcap Laughs' and 'Barrett' and two unreleased tracks that the Floyd had previously vetoed.
Barrett
*2022 stock. In process of stocking* 180g vinyl reissue LP. ‘Barrett’ was the eponymous Pink Floyd frontman's second and last solo record, produced by his fellow bandmembers Rick Wright and David Gilmour. It's a collection of blues jams and psych rock that recalls artists such as the Byrds.
Chirps
Limited edition of 500 copies.* What could possibly happen when two ultimate masters of soprano saxophone square off for their only recording of duets? Chirps is the only place to find out. Steve Lacy – the one who planted the flag for soprano saxophone in the ground of modern jazz, who established its iconic status, who devoted himself to the axe with monkish devotion, who brought shakuhachi breath and stairstep melody into its upper-register antics. Evan Parker – arguably the one who pushed th…
Bonobo Beach: Some More Guitar Solos
*Limited edition of 500 copies.* Subtitled “some more guitar solos,” Bonobo Beach was German guitarist and instrument inventor Hans Reichel’s fourth and final record of solo guitar works. After this record, Reichel would turn much of his attention to the bowed wooden-tongued instrument he created called the daxophone. Reichel recorded the six tracks at his home in Wuppertal in April, 1981, and in the process made what might be his masterpiece. These are not just some more guitar solos. Concentra…
Pink Pong
*In process of stocking. Limited edition of 500 copies.* German pianist Georg Gräwe, one of the most impeccable and imaginative improvisers in contemporary free music, made his debut recording, New Movements, in 1976, under the auspices of Free Music Production, the legendary Berlin-based organization run by Jost Gebers. At FMP’s Jazz Now festival, in April of that year, Gräwe presented his working band, a classic hard-bop configuration with trumpet, saxophone and rhythm section. Indeed, some ve…

John Cage
** 180Gr White Vinyl. edition of 500 ** One of the better realizations of John Cage's work, this was also the first “Nova Musicha” collection release. The LP contains five John Cage’s compositions for "prepared" piano, played and performed by various artists: Juan Hidalgo, Walter Marchetti, Gianni-Emilio Simonetti and Demetrio Stratos.  In these perfomances, the sound of the piano was altered by placing objects (preparations) between or on the strings or on the hammers or dampers. Toy pianos and…
Lumb's Sister
* Edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. Gatefold sleeve including a 62x62 cm double-side printed poster * Nurse with Wound's Lumb's Sister, newly remastered from the original analog tapes by Denis Blackham. "This music was originally conceived as raw material for the film project Lumb's Sister by Chris Wallis. During the long evolution of his movie, Chris decided to use alternative source sounds and subsequently none of these pieces ever made it onto the completed film. Aw, shucks." Stephen Stap…
Synesthesia
Limited edition of 600 numbered copies. Once described by Edward Ka-Spel as a companion to Chemical Playschool: Vols. 11, 12 & 13, Synesthesia is finally pressing in Deluxe Double Vinyl Edition. It is a great Esoteric and Experiemntal album totally original in comparison to All the King’s Horses and All the King’s Men, the two “song” albums released later that same year. Brilliant excursion into ambient abstraction in the “Premonition 26″/”Premonition 28″ sequence, in matters of experimental mus…

Future Percussion
Tip! CD Edition. A lost bit of 70s Italian modal jazz, with spiritual overtones and global percussion from drummer extraordinaire Tullio De Piscopo – an incredible set of heavily rhythmic grooves recorded in Milan in 1978 – originally a tiny edition effort on Carosello Records, and the most impressive rediscovery yet from New Platform!  For the occasion, the Tullio De Piscopo Quintet meets Argentine percussionist Luis  Agudo, who played for years alongside Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell and la…
Sotto E 'Ncoppa
CD Edition. One of the most popular session drummers in Italy, born in Naples but working in Northern Italy since the late 60's, Tullio De Piscopo had a brief contact with progressive rock when he played with New Trolls Atomic System in 1973-74, but all his solo production deals with jazz-rock and commercial and dance music. After a first drum teaching LP issued in 1974, Suonando la Batteria Moderna (Vedette VPA 8179), he produced the following year an album entitled Sotto e 'Ncoppa with a very …
The Silver Globe
Like all good parables Jane Weaver’s sixth solo album, a concept album called The Silver Globe, is as multifaceted as it is beguiling. Part coming of age/part cautionary tale and part romantic peon, this synth ridden post-apocalyptic prog pop opus is based on tightly embroidered, non-linear recurring themes and inspired by esoteric stories, cosmic imagery and refiltered past experiences. Written from the optimistic vantage of a long-standing female independent artist, in an desperately evolving …
The Amber Light
Originally issued as a limited CD only bonus disc for The Silver Globe album global re-release and a subsequent vinyl pressing, The Amber Light surprised fans expecting B-sides and outtakes with what for many stood up as its own isolated project including some of Jane Weaver’s best material to date including the pulsating synth anthem I Need A Connection which since became a radio favourite also appearing on film and fashion shows throughout the latter half of 2015. The Amber Light also included…
Terror Iridescence
“Terror Iridescence” is the 4th full length release by the latter-day, New York City based reincarnation of the seminal Punk Jazz/No Wave/Brutal Prog unit The Flying Luttenbachers, and the 17th album since 1992. After all of this, longtime fans tend to expect notable creative twists to be pulled by the band with each release, and this one will not disappoint. This time around, our heroes have issued forth a boldly abstract haunted-house salvo of dizzying surrealism, loaded with exceptionally biz…
Reed Whistle And Sticks
LP version. This highly experimental work represents some early sound collages from this quirky British composer. Affiliated with the avant rock group Henry Cow, Anthony Moore's works are highly regarded in the experimental music scene thanks to his Flying Doesn't Help album from 1978, a cult masterpiece of avant rock which enjoyed a much higher profile in the underground than his debut. This could be attested to the abstract nature of this recording, which explored tape-loop repetitions that bu…
