Bronze
*2023 repress* A giant step from abrasive pastoral into amped-up avant-folk. Hypnotic interludes, ranging from archaic, electrified stomps to enraptured harp and guitar duets, industrial spaces and fragile, ghostly vocal choruses, represent important development as well as a singular musical expression from one of Britain’s most unusual outfits. Mastered for its CD debut by Jim O’Rourke.
A Cappella
"Beginning in 2022, I started to process those layered, dense, dry, and beyond-words matters in the form of a voice diary. Gradually, I gathered a collection of 100 modulated voice recordings that were sealed on 50 cassette players. In June, these cassette players were set in my solo exhibition "100 Shits"(一百天的訴辯) staged at Hallucination in Kaohsiung. It allowed the audience to select how they would like the tapes to play. The exhibition also included a musical work entitled "A Cappella," which …
Momentary Lapses
*100 copies limited edition* Spoken word, synth, modules & beats invite the listener into an electronic landscape where smell is colour and sound has weight. 'Momentary Lapses' is the second collaborative album from London based artists BAG (Jody DeSchutter and Daniel Allison), and Collapsing Drums (Charlie Behrens).  This is a deeply artful work that is simultaneously engrossing and challenging, and one that benefits from repeated listening.
Spalona Ziemia
The trio is a perfect composition for broadly understood improvised music, sufficient in terms of minimum and generally reflecting to the maximum what the musicians want to convey to the listener. In the case of the Wrocław-based trio Marek Otwinowski, Michał Sikorski and Marcin Witkowski, this "width" of understanding improvisation is particularly visible. This is not a classic free-jazz band or even free-improv, because the musicians go far beyond these frames, touching noise, avant-garde, ind…
babel
Dauw presents 'babel', the debut album from Belgian duo Zonderwerk. The duo’s name means ‘’without work’’, but it also comes from “bijzonder werk”, where bijzonder is particular, special, unique. They like to work with images/paintings that are “bijzondere werken”, odd works.
Moments at the Re-engage
*Limited edition of 100 copies.* The British producer Alex Smalley (aka Olan Mill) has been active for more than a decade building his signature through nature as the central theme across emotional journeys through beautiful ambient melodies. Moments at the Re-engage —his first publication in Umor Rex— was created for a performance in Thüringen, Germany. On the night, while the audience was floating in mineralized neon water, the sound was being diffused across submerged speakers. Multiple synth…

Strange Blooms + HOWL!
Here together for the first time, are two releases united by parallel processes. Both Strange Blooms and Howl! were originally composed for contemporary dance projects - Strange Blooms in collaboration with choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh, and Howl!, written initially as a score for American choreographer, Maurice Causey, and premiered by the Luzerner Ballet. Both works, too, use keyboards, separated by three centuries: A natural recording of a 17th century baroque harpsichord (performed by Jane…

*150 copies triple compact disc limited edition* Contraluz is a journey in three parts - a voyage through the Balkans, the Mediterranean, and a few places that may have been on the map once before but certainly aren’t on any reputable ones now. A major new work from Émile Zener, recorded in his Barcelona studio in early 2023, Contraluz spends three engrossing hours submerged in the acrid soil, salty water, speculative financial markets, and submarine consciousness of Earth as it finds itself in …

Four Works
Four Works is a split full-length album by Linus Hillborg and Theodor Kentros with two pieces by each composer. The music on this record was written and recorded during 2019-2021. Each side of the album begins with a piece for organ and electronics performed by Fredrik Lundqvist. The record opens with Hillborgs Auguries which examines microtonal register shifts and shift changes in register as well as density throughout its 14 minutes. In this piece the electronics act as a shading device outlin…
Reshape
The cover of Joachim Spieth’s latest album, Reshape, depicts a stony landscape against a moody sky at dusk, silver clouds backlit with soft orange light. His 2021 album Ousia featured a similar sun, only foregrounded by waves. It’s as if some lost, drowned continent rose from the murky depths, dotted with strange fossils and petroglyphs. That contrast is an apt analogy for Reshape — an album of remixes and reworkings from some of the biggest names in ambient, techno and drone in honor of the Aff…
Terrain
With ‘Terrain,’ Joachim Spieth presents the fourth long player on his Affin imprint. The follow-up album to ‘Ousia’ (2021), ‘Terrain,’ reflects on the human relationship with nature. The album title is a reference to a musical language that layers Spieth’s music production practices and intimacy with nature.‘Terrain’ was forged in deep solitude.“ It’s an interplay of euphoric flashes and introspection” – says Spieth. The eight compositions take the listener into a captivating cascade of sonic te…
The Wave Ahead
Gorgeous, pearlescent cosmic ambient flights by London’s Jo Johnson - erstwhile member of ‘90s riot grrrl group Huggy Bear - now in pursuit of astral trajectories since returning to orbit over the past few years. “What is the sound of feeling? In physics, we conceive of sound as waves. Vibrations, undulations, physical manifestations: heard but not seen. Borne by the body, but interpreted in the brain. Within ourselves, we perceive emotion as waves, too. Rolling in, rolling out: tidal, even. In …
Gyttjans Topografi
Edition of 500 copies w/ printed inner. Swedish drone alchemist Mats Erlandsson is sitting in a fictional room on ‘Gyttjans Topografi’, imagining a virtual chamber orchestra using zithers, tapes, double bass, harmonium, organ, and various synthesisers to draft a treatise on alternative tuning and non-normative harmonic structures. Transcendent material. The music on this recording is performed by a kind of fictitious chamber ensemble situated in an imaginary room outlined by textures that altern…
Uncut Flowers
Hot on the heels of their third album Forget The Curse (Mammas Mysteriska Jukebox, 2023), Fördämning Arkiv presents a Troth anthology compiling early non-album material and other odds and ends from the Australian duo. A massive 15-track retrospective, Uncut Flowers consists of the tracks from the Our Opaque Wreath cassette (Moontown Records, 2019), The Optimist (Essential Minerals, 2019), the Garland And Gauze 7" (Altered States Tapes, 2020) as well as various compilation contributions. 74 minut…
