*100 copies limited edition. 2023 stock* This new collaboration of Jakub Šimanský and Jiří Štěpán is sort of happy coincidence. They are both active musicians, both coming from different background and performing in within slightly different scenes. Jakub Šuminaský has been cultivating his guitar playing based on the echoes of american primitive guitar style. Bass player Jiří Štěpán is active in his group Národní Divadlo, which steer towards free improvised and dissonant music. They both met at …
Natura Naturans
*2023 stock* 'A CD of one man improvising on his self-designed and built instruments. Stringboards are essentially hunks of cast-off wood with tuning pegs and guitar strings attached. That description does not prepare one for what they sound like though. Distant bells, odd filings and ratchetings, electrical sounding buzzes, (these are acoustic instruments), giant out-of-tune dulcimers, prepared guitars, warped blues records...all these and more are conjured from these simple devices at the hand…
Jazz Al Folkstudio + I Tarantolati
Huge Tip! **300 copies, comes with a printed insert** Back in 2021, we bore witness to the reissue, by Dialogo, of the Rome based ensemble Spirale’s lone 1974 self-titled LP, a towering obscurity of 1970s Italian jazz. Made of up Gaetano Delfini (wind instruments, vocals, percussion), Giancarlo Maurino (saxophone, flute, percussion), Corrado Nofri (piano, marimba, mbira, siren, Jew’s harp), Giuseppe Caporello (contrabass, guitar, percussion) and Giampaolo Ascolese (drums), the band ranks among t…

*2022 stock.* Sofa Music is proud to welcome a new project on board. It’s Propan, a duo comprising the two Norwegian vocalists; Natali Garner and Ina Sagstuen. On their second album Propan continues its research within the frameworks of the song form and presents a psychedelic, and more delirious landscape than on its first, somewhat more electroacoustic album, Baby. The duo explores the meeting point between improvised music and studio production, and builds the album around Propan's well-estab…
Hardを何十乗させたら光の粒が降り注ぐのか?
2023 Stock. The second live recording of the duo by Keiji Haino and Masataka Fujikake released just five years after the previous work "Tomorrow, the alphabet will disappear." While retaining the steel-like strength of the previous album, this is a rock album that pursues his core expression only with guitar, vocals and drums . Keiji Haino – guitar, vocals Masataka Fujikake – drums. If HARD is raised to the power of several tens, will the grains of light pour down? Recorded at Stormy Monday Yoko…

*200 copies limited edition* "In our oversaturated digital age, where ubiquitous media connections enable instant gratification and a continuous flood of competing interests, we often make snap judgments as we multitask through masses of incoming information. Technological advances were supposed to unleash creative thinking, but this deluge has instead led to an erosion of our creativity and attention. In many ways, the idea of a 'long-form' music is unsuitable for and out of phase with our time…

*70 copies limited edition* "Here are our musical ambitions given form by electric guitars, keyboards and digitally recorded loops. Here are also the ambiguities and uncontrollable elements of life. You’ll hear the late summer wind in the background, the wind-chimes hanging from the garden shed, the kids’ feet walking over the gravel, their voices in the distance. Both worlds make this single-take live recording a whole." - Opal SatelliteRecorded on August 22nd, 2022 in Hämeenkyrö, Finland
Predictability Failure
Sergey Senchuk aka Tungu was born in Chernihiv, Ukraine in 1999. He started playing in the spontaneous-intuitive band Kollektiv, and in the hard core bands Remorse and Keepleer 18. He begun to record using the nickname Tungu with his first release "Opus Hereticus"in 2013. His idea was to make of Tungu a project that would contain field recordings, cut ups, samples and live instruments. Four albums were recorded since then : "Dense arrays" 2014, "Ilf and Petrov with us" 2016, "Burst of exsessive …

John Cage Variations + Four6
"I ask how CALATO's use of graphic scores help them break down the divisions between  contemporary composition and improvisation? “We started as a noise improvisation band,” they respond. “We spent several years playing together without any kind of parts or scores, just working deeply on listening to each other, reacting and generating a kind of togetherness that made it possible to create live music in a very fast and intuitive way.” Then they started investigating different approaches to compo…
Quartz Mirliton Cassettes
Biggest Tip! Last copies... Quartz-Mirliton Cassettes has been among the most obscure of 1970s experimental music labels. This forthcoming VOD release, presented in two boxes, throws light on this mysterious cassette venture, its context and associated recordings. Closely associated with the London Musicians Collective, Quarz was launched by Paul Burwell and David Toop in 1977. Produced in tiny editions with handmade covers, the cassettes largely documented live sessions and field recordings mad…
Electric Rag Live
Maxed out and burning hot nasty, Electric Rag brings together the electric organs, electronics and alto sax of Jean-Luc Guionnet, with the closely amplified drums and percussion of Will Guthrie. After years of playing together in the minimalist pointillist free jazz noise core trio ‘The Ames Room’ (with Clayton Thomas on bass) Electric Rag offers up  another point of view on a musical history of nearly 15 years of playing together. The 8 titles of Electric Rag draw on their various experience in…
A Floor, Walls, and a Ceiling
Tokyo's experimental musicians Toshimaru Nakamura and Suzueri collaborated on a CD released in April 2023 on the Italian experimental label Superpang. Includes two improvisational songs using piano, mixer, and self-made instruments.
Musique Improvisée
Cockroach sound. Tender hammering. Whistling, chirping. Much silence in between. Small modulated electric guitar sound. Aha: a rock band?

Hen Ogledd
*2023 repress* Richard Dawson’s folk music has been hailed far and wide for its innovations; Rhodri Davies’ improvised harp playing is similarly regarded. Both have collaborated with a great many improvisers, composers and musicians, but they play together as only kindred spirits can and their music as Hen Ogledd stands in a field of its own.

September '21
Before the concert, we hadn’t discussed much of what we will be playing. Kirill proposed to place the "June ’21" score on the table, to follow the impression, the feeling, the direction of what it suggests to play. Sometimes we noticed how one part of the score or another would lead us to new ideas whilst we were playing. It was a special concert because of its circumstances. We decided to have one big table for both our setups, and to be standing up during the performance. Kirill used some obje…
