Daisuke Suzuki

Drifting
*300 copies limited edition* ‘Drifting’ is the very first collaboration between Andrew Chalk and Daisuke Suzuki, which has remained unsurfaced since then-their private recording in 1996. In early 1996 Daisuke sent Andrew a DAT tape which included some unedited pieces that he recorded with found objects in his garden. Those fragments of recordings inspired Andrew to make a spontaneous recording and he made a live mix directly to cassette recorder with his instinct and archaic vision. ‘Drifting’ i…
D.D.D.
"'DDD' is a field recording album recorded by Daisuke Suzuki and was originally released by Texas based IDEA in 2001 in an edition of 300 copies on LP. Sometimes field recordings can be appreciated in relation to the conceptual art form, or as an on-site sound study and documentation of a very specific phenomena. Daisuke had no concept of the idea of building sonic panoramas and was specifically only Concerned with gathering lots of intriguing sound matter for his personal listening. 'DDD' was…
Yama To Nashi
Andrew Chalk and Daisuke Suzuki have known each other for many years now, as Suzuki runs the Siren label out of Japan and had released Sumac, Chalk's masterful collaboration with Jonathan Coleclough. Suzuki is also responsible for one of the very few published interviews with the somewhat reclusive Chalk. Their friendship certainly runs deep, and out of this friendship came the impetus to collaborate once again (both Suzuki and Chalk had contributed to the now defunct Ora project well ove…
The Shadows Go Their Own Way
'The Shadows Go Their Own Way' took easily as long as its predecessor 'The Days After' to complete. After many planned sequences and pieces it suddenly and quite unexpectedly became finished last autumn. Denis Blackham at Skye Mastering gave the recordings a real touch of magic and we are completely happy with the final shape and sound of everything. Thanks go out to Naoko Suzuki who gave some vocals to two tracks and to Vikki Jackman for her inimitable piano playing on track #11 'Mirages'. 'The S…
In Faxfleet Clouds Uplifted Autumn Gave Passage To Kind Nature
Originally released on vinyl in the summer of last year, and presented as an extended play single, these three pieces total less than 25 minutes, and while the collaborators have chosen to present the recordings in these versions, the fade-outs suggest there's more to them than what we're given. There's a lot of movement in the stillness here. The faint rhythms on "Queen of Heaven" are only a backdrop to the very prominent sustained layers of keyboards and almost inaudibly low frequency ba…
The Days After
Originally released in 2003 as a limited CD-R. It is now back in print as a pressed CD with facsimile sleeve of the original artwork in a mini LP style jacket as previous Faraway Press releases and new insert. It features two tracks recorded over approximately seven years and the second track is now in an extended version here, making the album running time 50 minutes.
