Goncalo F. Cardoso

Country: Portugal

Gonçalo F. Cardoso is a Portuguese sound artist and DJ who founded the label Discrepant in London in 2011. His own records turn field recordings made at home and on his travels into edited audio diaries, set beside programmed beats and invented takes on Portuguese music. His Impressões records form a series of sound portraits of islands. Cardoso has recorded as Gonzo, Papillon and Visions Congo, and Ruído(s) (2019) was his last album as Gonzo. Impressões de Uma Ilha (Unguja) was recorded during a month in a beach hut in Zanzibar and issued on Edições CN in 2018.
