Kleistwahr

For the Lives Once Lived
Several years ago Gary Mundy of Ramleh/Broken Flag (and far more besides) declared to me that he wished to do one new Kleistwahr album every year until he's no longer able to do them. Fourth Dimension Records has subsequently fulfilled a promise to honour this plan as much as possible and is managing to keep up so far. How Gary manages to keep pulling new ideas out of the proverbial hat at this rate is anybody's guess, but the latest album, 'For the Lives Once Lived', illustrates very clearly th…
Down But Defiant Yet/Acceptance Is Not Respect
Fourth Dimension collects a couple of immense, previously CD-only albums into one neat package from Ramleh/Broken Flag's Gary Mundy, operating under his Kleistwahr handle. 'Down But Defiant Yet' and 'Acceptance is Not Respect' were originally released in 2017 and 2018 and were created with a more spiritual intent than previous works. Essentially, we get blasts of cinematic, ominous black psychedelic sound that channels elements of krautrock into harsh, brutal yet cleansing elegiac noise.
Don’t Let Go: Complete Kleistwahr 1982 - 1986
*300 copies limited edition* This double-disc set does exactly as the title indicates and collects all the material Gary Mundy of Ramleh released under his solo Kleistwahr guise between 1982 and 1986. Everything originally appeared on cassette on Gary's own much lauded Broken Flag imprint, although certain titles (as noted) have appeared on limited edition vinyl reissues as well. Some material has never before been reissued, however. The material featured is as follows: Myth album (originally re…
Do Not
*In process of stocking. Limited edition of 300 copies.* Limited edition reissue of this album originally released in 1986 on cassette on Broken Flag. Comprising two untitled side-long pieces, 'Do Not' catches Gary Mundy of Ramleh in peak 'noise' mode with his solo endeavour, taking much from his place as one of the innovators of the so-called power electronics genre yet pushing this confrontational avant-garde sensibility somewhere entirely new. It is a sound that Kleistwahr has continued to ex…
Mobility
*Limited edition of 300 copies. One-sided LP.* Limited edition reissue of this cassette originally released in 1983 on Broken Flag, gathering five untitled solo pieces by Gary Mundy of Ramleh in full on early power electronics mode, firmly illustrating his place as one of the innovators of this genre yet likewise pushing this confrontational avant-garde sensibility somewhere entirely new. It is a sound that Kleistwahr has continued to explore and add new dimensions to ever since, but never compl…
Common Values
*Limited edition of 300 copies.* Since 2014 Gary Mundy of Ramleh and Breathless has been releasing most of his solo work through Fourth Dimension Records. Common Values is his seventh such album for the label (not including a reissue of 2009’s The Return album, originally released on vinyl by USA’s long gone by legendary Noiseville, and the LP reissues of the Broken Flag albums Mobility and Do Not due, after many delays, in late September/October 2021) and gathers another six mighty cuts that on…
An Oblique Reference To Zeros
A budget-priced collection of tracks by artists who've had releases out on Fourth Dimension Records or whose music has entered the label's orbit and made a good impression. In an ideal world there'd be at least several albums by all concerned on Fourth Dimension Records, but the label operates from more or less the same dingy old basement it always has and subsequently has to limp along in usual fashion. It is precisely because of this that 'An Oblique Reference to Zeros' has been assembled. The…
In The Guts Of A Year
*300 coipes limited edition* Since 2014 Gary Mundy of Ramleh has been releasing most of his solo work through Fourth Dimension Records. 'In the Guts of a Year' is his sixth such album for the label (not including a reissue of 2009's 'The Return' album, originally released as an LP by USA's Noiseville, and the reissues of the Broken Flag LPs 'Mobility' and 'Do Not' that are also presently in production) and brings together another six lengthy new cuts. Keeping in line with where his work has been…
In The Reign Of Dying Embers
For a number of years now Fourth Dimension Records has been responsible for releasing most of Gary Mundy of Ramleh’s solo works under his Kleistwahr guise. Each of these albums is possessed of a thematic approach harbouring some of his obsessions, passions and explorations into both pure, unadulterated sonic expression and many of the concerns driving it. Although traces of Gary’s longstanding interest in unforgiving and uncompromising music can often be found threaded throughout Kleistwahr’s wo…
Winter
Kleistwahr is the solo project of Gary Mundy, the legendary power electronic and noise-rock musician who is a founding member of Ramleh and runs the highly influential Broken Flag label. Solemn drones and elegiac long-form passages gird Kleistwahr’s Winter, which often chimes, glistens, and glows through a unhurried constructs for organ, synth, guitar, and electronics. Yet Mundy pivots throughout with triumphant explosions of shrill noise, redlined overload, and harrowingly anguished vocals from…
This World Is Not My Home/Over Your Heads Forever
Reissue of these now o/p albums (originally released as CDs on Fourth Dimension Records in 2014 and 2016, respectively) as a limited edition 2LP set. A similar set collecting the Down But Defiant Yet and Acceptance Is Not Respect albums will follow later. Each album in this series will be featured in its entirety. 200 of each set will be made available for retail via direct orders and selected stockists. This is strictly limited and will not be repressed. The latest album from Gary Mundy (Ramleh…
Acceptance Is Not Respect
Ramleh's Gary Mundy has been rather prolific in recent years with his solo Kleistwahr project. As with his main concern, there's a deep-seated interest in pushing the parameters where certain sonics can fall into a seismic vortex of sheer overload yet remain tethered to a knowing sensibility where greater power can be derived from simply holding back. Since the incredible This World Is Not My Home album in 2014 Kleistwahr has embarked on a single-handed mission to not only take such possi…
Down But Defiant Yet
Collecting two songs from the long out-of-print, ultra-limited 10" lathe-cut released in spring 2017 on New Zealand Independent Woman Records, "Broken and Beaten in 5/8 Time Part 1. Beaten" and "Broken and Beaten in 5/8 Time Part 2. Broken", plus two previously unreleased tracks exclusive to this release. Generally more refined than previous Kleistwahr work, the pieces here catch Gary Mundy (also of Ramleh and Broken Flag Records) furrowing his distinct and recognizable take on a kind of contemp…
Music For Zeitgeist Fighters
New album by the much revered solo project of Gary Mundy (Ramleh / Broken Flag). 2 pieces of intense, emotional and purgative electronics miles away from audiophile realms." Welcome to 2017. I’m laughing because I’m thinking of music and I’m thinking of death. Welcome to the Captagon, the room is dizzy and moving. The DJ’s turntables are on fire and the heat hits me full on as I walk onto the dancefloor. Distorted sounds like the bass rumbles or high frequencies are moving from one wall to anoth…
Return
Following the 2014 release of Kleistwahr's latest album, This World Is Not My Home, also on Fourth Dimension Records, The Return is a remastered reissue of a limited edition LP originally on Noiseville Records. Both now long out of print and collectible, Gary Mundy (Ramleh, Breathless, Broken Flag, etc.) never felt completely satisfied with the Noiseville release, hence this revisit to redress the balance being more than justified. Here featuring two previously unreleased bonus cuts, ÔThe Storm'…
This World Is Not My Home
The latest album from Gary Mundy (Ramleh), who has been using this moniker since the early '80s to further furrow the worlds of intense electronics, harrowing psychedelia and violent or claustrophobic atmospherics he is already known for. Less prolific than Ramleh, Kleistwahr began with several cassette releases on Gary's own much-revered Broken Flag imprint and has subsequently been afforded more releases by labels such as Noise War, Noiseville and Harbinger Sound. "This World Is Not My …
Myth
The two LPs are straight reissues of the first two Kleistwahr cassettes released by Broken Flag in 1983 - BF3 and BF15. They are the first two volumes in a series of four releases cataloging the early Kleistwahr recordings. Kleistwahr was the solo project of Gary Mundy which he ran alongside his main band Ramleh. "One of the earliest releases on the label, Myth more than fulfils the promise of the UK’s power electronics scene to fully deliver on punk’s failure to fully liberate rock/roll from …
