Berlino / Rallentando
**Rare original, few copies available** An epic entry into the drone music canon, this work from conceptual/performance/sound artist Terry Fox inhabits a zone of long-string drone avant garde action more readily associated with the likes of Ellen Fullman or Paul Panhuysen and his Het Apollohuis productions, though Fox marks out a singular stance for himself here. Featured in the legendary Alan Licht's Minimal Top Ten. Side two's Rallentando occupies the more expected territory of the two, teasin…

A symposium held in conjunction with the Bern exhib…
Elemental Gestures
**Monograph about american Conceptual and Fluxus Artist Terry Fox (1943-2008) curated by Arnold Dreyblatt.** What is the common denominator between such different elements as the purring of cats, fishes, cigarette smoke, flour, water, yeast, and an artist’s own body? The answer is that they are all on Terry Fox’s “list of art ingredients” for his work. Elemental Gestures presents a comprehensive overview of this artist’s oeuvre and it offers fascinating and compelling insights into the multi-fac…

552 Steps Through 11 Pairs of Strings
Bubbling below the histories of sound-art, fine-art, and avant-garde music, there are a handful of remarkable figures who bridge all three - collapsing the barriers between creative limit, context, location, and aural experience. Of these, Terry Fox long occupied a place of respect and renown for those in the know - among the best of the best, but, within the broader narratives of each discipline, he has never entirely received his due - lingering just out of view, responsible for so much…

Malte Hubrig writes "The performance of Mureau -- its letters, syllables and words read by John Cage in a uniform intonation of the voice -- frees language of its meaning and opens it to sound." The second LP is Terry Fox's Culvert, a performance that took place at the University of Montana in …
Ataraxia
Long out of print now, an awesome CD by Terry Fox "Apparently (reading between the lines of the cover notes) Terry Fox is of that breed of sound artist that refuses to get into technology, and instead seeks out other ways of making sound that feels electronic or unreal. As such, it is hard to believe that 'Ataraxia' is all totally acoustic, with no electronic manipulation. It sounds as though tape loops, echo and reverb devices are used on most numbers, but what he uses instead are long wires, p…
