Thomas Tilly
Thomas Tilly is a sound artist and composer who works mainly with microphones and loudspeakers. His practice centres on field recording and the way environmental sound meets space, with an approach to phonography informed by biology, anthropology and acoustic measurement. Much of his work comes from stays in French Guiana with CNRS researchers, recording the sounds of frogs and insects. Thomas Tilly is self-taught and has run the Fissür label since 2001. He also leads Tô, a solo project of concrete music from environmental sounds and manipulated objects.
