Aleksandra Ionowa (1899–1980) was a Finnish-Russian artist, mystic, and largely self-taught pianist whose music feels like a transmission from another realm.
Misha Panfilov, the Estonian composer whose name has become synonymous with space-age exotica and cinematic soundscapes, withdraws once more into the solitude of his studio and emerges with To Blue From Grey In May – a profound meditation on sound, time, and seasonal transformation. Recorded amid the ever-changing light and shadows of Tallinn between March and May 2025, this new album stands as a testament to complete immersion in the creative process. Here, Panfilov threads himself into the ver…

Announcing Blue Voice, a playful yet unsettling 7-inch by Luke Calzonetti built from distorted cartoon voice-over outtakes — warped, abstract tone-poems that teeter between humor, chaos, and sonic sabotage. Pressed on white vinyl with a blue Pantone sleeve.
By far the most rock-oriented of Fairport Convention's early albums, this debut was recorded before Sandy Denny joined the band (Judy Dyble handles the female vocals). Unjustly overlooked by listeners who consider the band's pre-Denny output insignificant, this is a fine folk-rock effort that takes far more inspiration from West Coast '60s sounds than traditional British folk. Fairport's chief strengths at this early juncture were the group's interpretations, particularly in the harmony vocals, …
Sandy Denny's haunting, ethereal vocals gave Fairport a big boost on her debut with the group. A more folk-based album than their initial effort, What We Did on Our Holidays is divided between original material and a few well-chosen covers. This contains several of their greatest moments: Denny's "Fotheringay," Richard Thompson's "Meet on the Ledge," the obscure Joni Mitchell composition "Eastern Rain," the traditional "She Moves Through the Fair," and their version of Bob Dylan's "I'll Keep It …

Highlighted by the mysterious shots by Adriano Zanni you can now enter an awkward soundworld where nothing can be traced anymore. "Scomparire", to disappear, Vanishing. Pretending to vanish in a thick fog, never to be found again. The detachment from one’s identity. Leaving behind the constant paranoia of what is real and what is not. Leaving behind everything:…
*200 copies limited edition* "Desert Smell", a precious collaborative album by Fabio Orsi and Massimo Amato, is fundamentally centred on suffused and dreamy ambient atmospheres, with inserts of ethereal female voice, suspended notes of reverberated piano, echoes in reverse, breaths of synthetic woodwinds, floating and enveloping pads, fragments of abstract sounds, sequencer phrases sometimes kept soberly in the background, and sometimes reminding of cosmic memories brought more energetically to …
The London based singer and keyboard player Dominic Appleton, known since the early eighties for his musical activity in the post punk/dream pop band Breathless, and perhaps even more for his vocal contributions to the legendary This Mortal Coil project on 4AD, joins forces with the Milanese producer and sound artist Matteo Uggeri, active from 1993 behind several projects spanning from industrial to post-rock and ambient soundscapes, known for collaborating with artists such as Maurizio Bianchi,…

London Conversation is the first album by John Martyn, released on Island Records in 1967. Largely self-penned, the album is much more folk oriented than his blues/jazz tinged later releases. Recording was completed by 9 August and the album was released when Martyn was 19 in October 1967. The album reputedly cost £158 to record. The cover photo was taken by Barry Wentzel on the roof of Island Records boss Chris Blackwell's flat in Cromwell Road, London.
Leon Thomas' debut solo recording after his tenure with Pharoah Sanders is a fine one. Teaming with a cast of musicians that includes bassist Cecil McBee, flutist James Spaulding, Roy Haynes, Lonnie Liston Smith, Richard Davis, and Sanders (listed here as "Little Rock"), etc. Thomas' patented yodel is in fine shape here, displayed alongside his singular lyric style and scat singing trademark. The set begins with a shorter, more lyrical version of Thomas' signature tune The Creator Has a Master P…

Veruschka, composed by Ennio Morricone and performed by Edda Dell'Orso, is a landmark in Italian soundtrack tradition.
